Chargers-bftblogo3

Hey everybody. My name is John, and I will no longer be known as "obviousman". Hope that's alright with everyone.

This picture above is the new BFTB logo, or something close to it. Sometime in the near future, the horrible lightning/goal-post image at the top left of the site will be replaced with a fancy looking wave with fancy looking letters.

Thoughts in the comments below. Big thanks to BFTB's Graphic Designer QuesaDiaz.

Hmmmm

We may need to make te “from the” a little bigger so that it can be read when it’s made smaller…..

"When they come for me I'll be sitting at my desk, with a gun in my hand wearing a bullet-proof vest, singing 'My, my, my, how the time does fly when you know you're going to die by the end of the night.'" - Catch 22

my untrained eye

If you’re going with this new one, I’d suggest dropping the surfboard down so its actually on the wave. Put the “from the” in the niche of the wave. Right now it seems like there’s a lot of wasted space in the middle.

Also, any chance you could jazz up the font a bit? You could go really nuts and have a lightning bolt from the sky hitting the “Bolts” part while it rides the surfboard. Possible overkill but maybe it could work.

The line under “Bolts”. Maybe its not meant as a surfboard, but it sure looks like one (albeit it doesn’t have a fin). Given where it is on the logo (atop a wave) and the surfing community in SD, it seems weird to waste the chance to make it into a surfboard.

by CABurrito on Mar 5, 2010 2:46 PM PST up reply actions

In the first logo, the line looked like a surfboard.

In this one, it looks more like just a line for kicks.

In this version, it’s probably unnecessary. Especially sinced it takes up valuable real estate that could be used to for space for an enlarged “from the” (which I agree, does need to be enlarged).

But yeah, looks great.

I love my team of historically talented underachievers.

I’m going to miss the lightning bolt.

I kind of wish the line under "Bolts" was lightning-bolt-esque

I'm the first person to admit that I'm wrong about a lot of things, but I'm going to be the last person to admit I'm wrong about what we're currently talking about.

I like the lines,

and the color scheme, the ocean and the sky… not a big fan of the lettering. It’s just too chunky and heavy for the ocean and sky motif. Also, is it just me, or is it really strange seeing the word “blue” in yellow?

Font

The background’s great… The font’s pretty blah & cartoony. Why don’t you just use the Chargers font? As for a surfboard in there, kinda cheesy, & I surf.

Why don’t you just use the Chargers font?

Because they own it, and have several lawyers on retainer.

Looks good, but...

I really really liked version 2 a lot more. Which font is owned? Is it the thin lightning font or the block-ish font with the broad strike line through it?

Can a font be re-freaked/modified to avoid legalities?

Thanks for all the hard work and time put into this.

Looks real good. I like the shade of the blue in the sky and in the water.

Gnar, brah.

Do agree with the others on perhaps changing the font.
