Two years, $5.1 million for L.T. | ProFootballTalk.com
The New York Jets declined, we're told, the ability to match the two-year, $5 million contract that running back Thomas Jones signed with the Chiefs. They matched that number and added $100,000 in order to get LaDainian Tomlinson under contract.
Ten logical cap casualties for 2010 - ESPN
While NFL owners appear willing to lock out their players in 2011, they already have one advantage that none of the owners in other professional sports have: nonguaranteed contracts.
DT leads strongest positions - ESPN
Most NFL personnel people agree that the overall 2010 draft class is one of the deepest in recent years. The offensive skill positions are not particularly strong but this is a great year for teams to have multiple picks in any or all of the first three rounds. Here's Scouts Inc.'s breakdown of the best and worst position groups, as well as those with big talent disparities, and we also take a look at our updated ranking of the top 32 overall prospects on the board.
AFC West mailbag - ESPN
I know a lot of mock drafts have San Diego taking Mathews. He told me at the NFL combine last month that he had a good interview with the team. Still, it is a deep running back class and I think the Chargers will covet several players. If a nose tackle like Terrence Cody is available at No. 28, I could see San Diego filling that need first and then taking a running back later. In short, Mathews fits San Diego’s offense and he could be the choice, but he is one of several options.

Damn
I’ve been afraid of Quinn ending up in McD’s offense in Denver since last offseason.

I can't believe the Jets wouldn't pay for Jones, but will for Tomlinson.

Waiting for details
I get the feeling this is going to be a Vick-like “prove yourself” contract where most of the money is in the 2nd year.

Remember
Jones was due his money in March. Cutting him saved them that money. LT isn’t due that money until September. Never under estimate the value of deferring cost. Also, never underestimate the need for New York teams to bring in a headline grabber.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong.
Bolts from the Blue - General Manager: It is what it isn't
TJ's contract got him cut
The Jets would have had to pay him more between bonus and salary for 1 year than he got (or LT got) for 2 years. He was due starter pay but it was obvious that Shone would get the majority of touches this year. I think the Jets attempt to get him to renegotiate for less put his back up and that was that.
LT gives the Jets insurance and flexibility. He can play 3rd back (catch/block) and he can give Greene a breather when needed. If LT is going to do well anywhere it will be behind the Jets O-line. He also signed for a lot less than Leon Washington’s agent was asking for Leon. Also there is some concern whether Leon will completely recover from his injury. I think any team that can sign Leon to a contract will get to keep him and the Jets will take the 2nd round pick as compensation.
I may be old but I... oh d*mn, I forgot what I was going to say.
