What do you guys think? Who impressed you? Who didn't? I watched the combine on live stream and all I know is I'm loving Jahvid Best more and more. His durability worried me at first and I wasn't sure if he was worth our late 1rst round pick but I think I'm starting to change my mind and think he's worth the risk. If not for durability he may be more valuable than C.J Spiller to me(I dunno Maybe!) It would be nice if  Mathews fell to us in the 2nd(not likely, wishful thinking)or some how Gerhart fell to us in the 4th. Both their speed for their size is awesome. McCluster surprised me with his slower than expected 40 time but he is still game fast and is a receiving machine, some teams are thinking about drafting him for slot receiver, he would be a pretty good Sproles replacement. Sproles 40 time wasn't the best but his game speed is great. Dweyer's acceleration and cutting ability didn't impress me like Mathews did, I was kinda tossed up between the two guys but now I would take Mathews instead. Plus Mathews seams like a better pass catcher. There could be a lot of good steals in the draft this year for running backs between the 4th and later rounds, Blount, Dixon, Tate, Hardesty, and Gerhart.  I know the combine doesn't prove much but its fun to speculate. Your thought on the combine results?

Mathews Ran a 4.45 forty

1st run was a 4.41 and his second was a 4.49.

yeah! I didn't catch that!

Thanks, must be a misprint from the website I got it from!

Best and Matthews

May not even make it to us at the 28th pick with their performances on Sunday. Ben Tate and Hardesty looked really good. Hopefully they make it to the 92nd pick, but AJ could (and often does) move up in the third to pick someone he really likes.

Nah

They were borderline first rounders going into the combine. This just helps any team justify a first round selection, but there will most likely be better players on the board until late in the first round. I won’t say that it’s impossible that they’ll both be gone by 28, but it still doesn’t seem likely. There’s just a lot of other players worthy of earlier picks.

I'm the first person to admit that I'm wrong about a lot of things, but I'm going to be the last person to admit I'm wrong about what we're currently talking about.

Best may be gone...

I have seen some mocks having the eagles take best at 24 as a replacement for westbrook. This sounds doable as best could be a compliment w McCoy who definately didnt make people forget about westbrook.

I am a Mathews fanatic, and I just think his best fit is with the chargers. He is bigger than best and faster than dwyer. Mathews is perfect for that team that scores points fast then give it to mathews to take over the 4th qtr. To me, perfect fit for both Mathews and Chargers.

Eagles

They don’t typically draft for need. They’ll take someone that gives them the best value. They also have holes on defense. I wouldn’t put too much stock into what mocks are saying about their drafts since it basically comes down to who is actually there when they pick. I would also tend to think that they actually like McCoy more than what people are interpreting. It’s also worth noting that I think McCoy is the highest draft pick they’ve spent on a RB since, I think, Keith Byars in 1986.

I'm the first person to admit that I'm wrong about a lot of things, but I'm going to be the last person to admit I'm wrong about what we're currently talking about.

I agree

I love Matthews too! Although LT is irreplacable, I think Matthews fits the bill pretty well, as far as measurables go. Also, he seems to be a pretty good character guy coming from a small school, so that fits the AJ mold well. Much rather have him than Best. 1st round better be him or one of the big DT’s. If we draft a CB or OLB I will have a fit.

Acee says

Don’t be surprised if we go after a Safety or Cb early in the draft. They say this is the deepest class of rb’s in a long time, we may wait till the third round, I wouldn’t be shocked. The chargers always seem to surprise me in the draft. I thought they would go after Jamal replacement last year early in the draft rather than Merrimans replacement. Maybe(I hope) we get Thomas Jones in free agency. I think he still has a couple years left in his career. Hes a workout machine and would be a good veteran to teach a rookie or two rookies we get in the mid to later rounds of the draft. Maybe Thomas Jones free agency, Dexter McCluster in the third round, and maybe blount or 1 of the Dixons in the 5th round. Better than gartrell Johnson in the 4th last year if you think about it. Last years rb class sucked compared to this years which is good for us. We could possibly pick up a Shonne Green type guy in the 5th round vs the third round. Thomas Jones-Dexter McCluster for third downs- and Legarrette Blount to mold, Yeah I’m cool with that for next year. How about you guys? If we dont get Jones or another free agent then I’m sure it will go totally different. Man I can’t wait for the draft!

I think TJ would work

but only if you can get him for a decent price.

I may be old but I... oh d*mn, I forgot what I was going to say.

Someone needs to make a draft pole

and have everyone vote who they want in the 1st round. I liked Dwyer and Mathews equally at first but now I’m all about Mathews.

John Conner ran a 4.7?

No way will he escape the T-1000 with a time like that.

Yup, I'm the nut who believes Mark Loretta is a possible future Hall of Famer.

Have you seen how ripped John Conner is?

He could easily kick the T-1000’s ass!

This off-season officially sucks for FIVE reasons and counting...

Gerhart 6.94 in the cone...

Does this alleviate or confirm worries about his speed and agility?

Yup, I'm the nut who believes Mark Loretta is a possible future Hall of Famer.
