LT is not alone....Eagles cut Westbrook also.

From ESPN:

The Philadelphia Eagles have released 30-year-old running back Brian Westbrook. Arguably the best running back in franchise history, Westbrook was a vital part of the Eagles' success last decade.

 Westbrook Westbrook

He suffered two concussions in '09 and has talked about being worried about his long-term health. But I wouldn't expect any type of retirement announcement in the near future. Westbrook will one day retire as an Eagle, but he'll likely try to sign with another team. The Eagles are probably doing him a favor (much like what the Chargers did for LaDainian Tomlinson) by releasing him this early in the offseason.

There was at least one report in Philadelphia that Westbrook wouldn't be able to pass another team's physical because of a past knee injury. That report was disputed by Westbrook and his representatives. Eagles coach Andy Reid will meet with reporters at 3 pm ET.

But no matter what the future holds, Westbrook has been a huge part of the Eagles organization. He wasn't as beloved as Brian Dawkins, but fans appreciated the way he played through injuries while putting up huge numbers.

He caused teams such as the Giants to go out and sign players specifically to cover him. Whether or not this is the end of the road for Westbrook, he'll be considered one of the best players to ever play for the Eagles. Sad day in Philly.

Westbrook and LT two guys that could do it all

Both would still be viable 3rd down pass catching options

LT still had a nose for the endzone last year, even with less ypc and yardage

The torch has been passed, and Henne has added fuel to the fire!

Tomlinson was absolutely horrible receiving this past season.

He was horrible all around. I have nearly all the games tevo, Im on my third go around; and Ithink if I counted the number of tackles he broke then subtracted the number of times he tripped himself. The number would most likely be negative.

Not even close

I bet it’s be something like 5 minus 30.

i'm really curious

to see what LT can do in another uniform. I don’t know much about football, but I wonder if LT’s performance declined a lot or if the chargers stopped caring about their running game. obviously, LT isn’t the player he used to be, but maybe with a team that worked harder at using creative running plays, his numbers would look better. so i’m glad he isn’t retiring.

LT missed Mr 41 a lot.

Since Lorenzo Neal was gone LT had never been the same.

Makes you wonder how he did so well before 41 got there

I'm the first person to admit that I'm wrong about a lot of things, but I'm going to be the last person to admit I'm wrong about what we're currently talking about.

They both got too old around the same time.
