San Diego, Quentin Jammer, cornerback: Jammer is appreciated in San Diego, but I’m not sure he gets enough league-wide respect. He is a solid, solid player. He is very consistent and he often shuts down some of the top receivers in the league. Fellow San Diego cornerback Antonio Cromartie gets most of the league’s attention because of his 10 interceptions in 2007. But the truth is, Jammer is a much better player.
No Tomlinson? Who will be the Chargers running back in 2010?
A myriad of options exist as to who could fill that role, and via what avenue. Assuming that Sproles is also retained, here are some of the many possible possibilities (ages listed reflect the start of next season):

New England?
It seems like all the “washed up” Chargers end up in New England where they end up playing 6 or 8 years and winning Super Bowls.
There's only one player that fits that description
Rodney Harrison.
(Note that Junior Seau has still never been a part of a Super Bowl winner. Remember, they lost to the Giants when he was on them?)

Bryan Westbrook just released
An LT signing in Philly seems slightly more likely now.

He was going to be released anyways. I don’t even know if he can play anymore after all of those concussions.

I hadn't heard anything definitive until now
Then again, I don’t live in Philly. I’ve heard the rumors the last day or so about LT going to Philly, but I wondered why they would carry two aging backs and their young up-and-comer. Not once when I heard Philly mentioned as a destination did they mention a potential Westbrook release. So, you can see why I would think the chances increased slightly with his release since I didn’t know it was a forgone conclusion.

Seems weird for them to sign LT.
If they wanted a back of his age/abilities, wouldn’t they have just kept Westbrook?

Not necessarily
Because of the seriousness of the injuries I think they feel that they need to go in another direction. LT is almost guaranteed to be ready week 1, Westbrook is not.

They’re not going to try to pay LT 7 million dollars or whatever Westbrook was due.
