Chargers Talking about Potential Extension with Tolbert
According to Kevin Acee the San Diego Chargers have had long term contract talks with running back Mike Tolbert. Tolbert would still be a restricted free agent next year barring a change in the new CBA but locking up Tolbert now can be beneficial to both the team and Tolbert.

Please God!
Don’t let A.J. let this talent walk. He will be the perfect compliment for Mathews and Brinkly for years to come. They are already gonna let Jackson go who with Gates is a perfect complimet to the run game.

Gotta Love
Tolbert. Perhaps they could throw in a chinstrap on his helmet as a bonus.

excellent
I really like the idea of Tolbert and Mathews in the backfield long term. I don’t think either has the durability to be a feature back, but together they could keep each other fresh.
And while both are power backs, I think they are different enough to present a nice change of pace.

mathews
Ryan has some wheels man. He’s turned quite a few loss of 2’s into 12 yard gains, after putting a line backer on there rear. Once he learns to wait for the plays to develop hell start hitting some home runs. And hell need em too since Tolbert is so effective in the red zone

I would like to see Tolbert around long term
but at the same time, it would be nice if he worked on putting the ball on the ground a lot less. Seems to have improved as the season progressed, but RB fumbles had as much to do with early season woes as the horrible special teams play.
Just do it

I have a feeling we might be bringing Sproles back as well
At a severely reduced price, of course. He’ll get his walking papers no doubt and become an UFA, but I think it is unlikely he’ll get a big payday elsewhere and might be well suited to hang around in SD to be part of a serious triple threat of Tolbert, Mathews and Sproles. I guess the draft will determine our need for a 3rd down back (right now Sproles is far and away the best on the roster).

Love Tolbert and hope he stays
Any thoughts on what kind of money he would be asking for?
Based on how they have played how much less than Mathews will he be willing to take.
