darn you ORZ...
That was “Figure 1” in my D-line analysis…

You sir
are a gentleman and a scholar.
You think about all the time spent looking for that dominant 3-4 NT in the draft and Garay was just sitting on the Jets practice squad.

Kinda makes you wonder
why the Jets never figured out what they had. I love the irony of it… All the media hype is about how Chargers castoffs are helping the Jets, but I think SD picked the Jets’ pocket. I’d much rather have Garay than Cro in his (brief) prime, or today’s LT. Dominant NTs are so hard to find. Easily my favorite defensive player.
Are Marlon McCree and Antonio Cromartie the same person? Just askin'.
Ha
Pravda, I was watching the Jets/Pats and seeing Cro blow tackles and do that sideways shuffle on run plays instead of sticking his nose in and comparing that to Cason; and here the Chargers sit with a second rounder and Garay and AJ didn’t even use a gun.

Or kiss Rexy goodnight.
Not that I blame him.

Sapp
played until he was 35. Garay doesn’t have quite the same wear & tear on his knees since he wasn’t playing, I think he might last longer than folks think.

Can you say ragdoll? Sure you can.
Thanks for the clip, ORZ.

More clips please.
I visited the Arrowhead Pride site, I was curious about their thoughts on Garay manhandling their O-line. But he wasn’t mentioned? In their O-line analysis, they pointed out 92 V. Martin. I don’t recall seeing exceptional play from Vaughn. Do you have any clips of him collapsing the pocket, etc.? They said he did it from either side of the ball? I’m curious if he is "getting it" and he is a beast to come?
By the way awesome post keep it up.

I’ll take a look at the game film tonight, but I’m guessing that SDB’s D-line analysis post will tell more of that tale…
you guys will like my findings...

The other thing I’ll point out, is that it’s pretty easy to cherry pick a highlight play out of 40-60 snaps in a game where one guy gets the best of another. It sure is fun though!
Oh, yeah
and so worth it; Garay’s great plays are spectacular. Still can’t get over his total abuse of Linkenbach in the Colts game.

the play where the was a hold on phillips
i saw Martin absolutely dominate their center. i was really impressed
I think
He starts next year, he is coming on.

How much would it cost ...
To sign him now before his value goes up any more?
As it stands right now
3/4/2010: Signed a two-year contract.
2010: $630,000
2011: $640,000
2012: Free Agent
If he continues playing this well, I wouldn’t be surprised to see an extension somewhere in the neighborhood of 3-4-years at 4-6mil/year contract. He is 31 already, but assuming his knees and triceps hold out …
On the flip-side, we do have Cam Thomas behind him, who’s locked up through 2013 for cheap, so I don’t know how much that would play into Garay’s contract talks.
"Don’t get nervous. Norv is in charge."
Pay that man!

I'd rather have a monster NT than ...
… a VJ. We need a team full of Garays, Weddles, and Jammers. Always working hard. Consistent. Physical. (Not that Weddle is a slammer, but he is not afraid to stick his head in there. And his technique just looks so good.)
Random, unrelated observation: Cooper is starting to look like Cromartie. Once he’s engaged he seems to give up, like “Okay, I’m out. Weddle you get him.”

Wow Castillo got washed out on that play.
oh well guess you can’t win them all.
he was doubled, again.
The peanut gallery has spoken!!!
So was #74 JC
It was actually a perfectly executed play by KC. double team El Toro and push him aside. Double team JC then go low on Phillips like Hester does with their FB and oops forgot about the guy in the middle. 1on1 is not enough for Mr. 71.

He can't win them all...
but his success rate is around 60%, which is very dominant for a DE. He’s also playing on a tender elbow and knee from the oakland injury.
