Chargers move to L.A. has taken its first step
Sorry charger fans, its difficult and sad as a season ticket holder to accept that the chargers are moving, but the circumstances seems to be lining up in the direction as Phillip Anschutz of AEG is poised to buy 35% of the chargers, even Mark Fabiani said, if AEG is the one buying than there is reason to be concerned.

bleech
this makes me sick to my stomach
Fabiani did say last night:
There is no truth to the rumor out of Toronto that the Chargers have agreed to sell a portion of the team to Mr. Anschutz.
and I would love to take that at face value, but I can’t quite bring myself to do it. Outside of some Spanos loyalty to SD (which seems pretty tenuous) I can’t see any reason why they would not want to move to LA. I think the SD chargers only hope is the Jags or Vikings beat us to LA (we might need both of them to beat us there to keep from moving). I’m not even sure a brand new downtown SD stadium would keep them at this point.

Its gonna happen one way or an other
Even if they can’t come out and say right this minute that Anschutz is buying the 35% stake. By my count the Chargers are the only NFL team for sale right now. If anything the only reason they can’t declare a winner of the shares is because the bidding war continues.
Either way the two most likely parties at this auction are both up the 405 a few miles.
Dislike
I really hope the Jags move there first, so we go nowhere. This does not sound like good news, though.
If they move out of San Diego, I will no longer be a fan….it’s as simple as that. I’ll cheer for the Jets or something.
You back your local team.
LA ain’t local. I’d just quit watching football.

I disagree
How does it erase your fandom if the local team you spent years cheering for leaves town? Do you swap teams if you move somewhere yourself? Seems like silly “I’m taking my ball and going home” behavior.
I cheer for a team (aka, players and coaches) called the San Diego Chargers, not the business known as the Spanos Family Trust or San Diego Chargers, LLC. Last time I checked, Rivers and Gates weren’t lobbying for the Chargers to move to LA.

Agree with your view
I moved away from San Diego in 1982 but have remained a Charger fan, I can’t see changing your team because you or the team relocate.
The first NBA team I followed was the San Diego Rockets and I am still a Rockets fan today.
I'd be off the band wagon too
Once the team is out of town, why not root for any other out of town team?
…. I hear the Rams are looking for a third fan.

I live in New York
I have for almost 5 years now. The Chargers are from San Diego (well they have since I’ve been alive)….I have fond memories of going to the Murph when I was a kid to watch preseason games, since we couldn’t afford regular-season games.
Now that I live somewhere else, if the Chargers leave they will seem more like any other random team, like the Rams or someone. Not all Brooklyn residents or former residents were Dodger fans after they left town, either.
See that's the thing
It was the Murph, then it was the Q….
The uniforms change every year….
They switch up coaches evey few years…..
The players come and go though free agency….
And now the team switches cities, just what is there to be loyal too? As far as I can tell nothing about this deal is loyal except the fans.

I heard a rumor from Toronto

The National League West title was all but a lock,

Oooh that conflicts with my rumor from Toronto I posted on twitter:
I heard a rumor from Toronto that A.J. is going to fire Norv, hire back Marty Schottenheimer, just so he can fire him again.

I just assumed he'd hire Norv back
Just to stick it to Marty again.

There's also a rumor that Magic is trying to bring the Vikings to LA
So maybe the only thing we’ve learned so far is that the Jaguars are safe…for now!
Rams, not Vikings ;)
The Vikings actually have a fan base in their current city.
