Hi there and a brief intro: I've been lurking here a while, but haven't posted in the past. I was a regular for years at the signonsandiego forums (as NutsforBolts), but soured on all the bickering. I'm an SBnation regular (I moderate at the SF Giants site) and like the format here better anyway, so here I am. "Welcome Goofus; glad to have you!" Thanks eyeryone! :-)
So VJ lasted about 3 plays and pulls himself out of the game with a calf injury. Whether of not he's really injured or this is another tactic in his plan to leave the Bolts for greener pastures is an open question. A pulled calf certainly seems like something that's easy to fake and hard to disprove.
Chris Jenkins put the word "injury" in quotes and noted it's raising eyebrows in his SDUT article. Interesting that he had nothing to say. I would think if he wasn't really hurt, he'd have said something like "I know how this might look, but I'm really hurt and will do everything I can to be ready for the KC game to help the team win."
It seems like there are reasons for Jackson to fake it and not fake an injury. Faking an injury certainly prevents him from getting hurt before he gets the big payday he's looking for. On the other hand, if everyone believes he's full of poo, it would certainly raise more red flags about his character among interested potential teams.
I'm not clear on NFL roster rules, so I need help here. Assuming he's faking the whole thing, what can the Chargers do to screw him back and/or minimize the damage? My understanding is that if the place him on IR, he'll still be credited for the six games and be a FA after the season. Can they suspend him or anything like that?
