it will be interesting to see if Lang makes it to the practice squad
I’m sure the Chargers would like to keep him around. I think he was just one of those guys who was too raw to contribute at all this year. He hadn’t seen any time on the defense and hasn’t make any kind of ST impact (or tackles for that matter). In an ideal world, with fewer injuries, we could hide him on the 53 man all year and hope he develops next year. With the injuries we’ve got this year, I think he just got squeezed.
I am a little excited to see Sperry, I think he could be a very good pass catching tight end eventually.

Sperry
I fell in love with him as a receiver at Chargers TC last year and was sad to see him cut in favor of Kris Wilson. He eventually showed in Miami that he could be pretty dangerous, and his knowledge of the offense leads me to believe that he could contribute tonight if he really had to.

If Wilson is out
It seems like he would almost certainly play for two TE sets, I’m guessing Gates will only be in occasionally at best…

No
It means Gates and Wilson aren’t playing, and the Chargers need more than one TE on the team.

Looks like they brought Brinkley back too
Guess Mathews is out.

Lang only had about a dozen defensive snaps all year
never did anything to get noticed. Wasn’t special on coverage either. I don’t see him as a loss. Don’t know about Sperry
The sports team from my geographical area is superior to the sports team from your geographical area and will emerge victorious due to its very superiority.

yup, I think this was a "don't screw up the special teams" move
They probably would have loved to hang onto Lang as a developmental player, but couldn’t hide him on the 53 man roster any longer without getting rid of a special teams contributor (since we needed injury help at TE)
I’m a little surprised he didn’t contribute more on ST. He has be active for every game after week 2 and seems to have the size/speed combo that would make for a real good special teams guy. Perhaps he didn’t have the mental makeup.

Ouch, I hope we can sneak him onto the practice squad.
I’m torn because I really like both of these guys, but we need Sperry for this game so let’s hope that Lang makes it through the wire and onto the practice squad. I’m betting he does because he doesn’t have a whole lot of film from the regular season for other teams to look at and he didn’t really stand out too much (in regular season) with any snaps that he did get. Win-win for us as we finally get to see what Sperry can do…except, what happens if Sperry is awesome in his performance and we are faced with deciding between two of the three: McMichael, Wilson, and Sperry? Of course, that’s a good problem to have, so in the meantime we hope for a great performance (from the whole team) tonight.
eventually
Kris Brown will be let lose when everyone is happy with kaeding’s health, so we will have another roster spot to play with soon (maybe tomorrow if Nate holds up tonight).
