Was It Just Me?
Or did everyone else catch some of the Pro Bowl? The block VJ made in the fourth quarter makes me wonder.
I know its highly improbable but VJ put a lick on that linebacker. Could we not get rid of Cro and have VJ play both ways? I know it's not happening but what if he went both sides? Crazy. Would any of you guys like to put in your input on what kind of impact VJ would make on defense? He is willing to dish it out unlike Cro. Thoughts?

I especially like how he tried to help the LB back up
Cushing (or was it Hawk) just had to walk away in shame. :-)

Cushing would have been on the same team as VJ
If he had played in the Pro Bowl, but I think he passed due to injury. Don’t quote me on the injury thing though, but the Texans and Chargers are definitely both in the AFC.

I couldn't remember which
long haired rookie OLB from USC was on the Texans and which was on the Packers. I knew it was a Packer and I believe the Packers have a few lng haired LBs to chose from. You can see how this sort of thing can confuse one like myself…

This should make it easier
Cushing’s hair isn’t long anymore.

Cro would make a pretty effective wide reciever-- certainly better than as a CB.
If we had to replace him with one of our guys on the other side of the ball I would not be opposed to finally letting Kassim play defense. He’d probably catch more passes anyhow.
Yup, I'm the nut who believes Mark Loretta is a possible future Hall of Famer.
Cro would not make an effective WR.

He's got good straight-line speed, decent hands, and the diva mentality down pat.

Cro as a WR
According to his Florida State profile, he was getting snaps at WR in the spring prior to his knee injury. I am not saying he would be a better receiver than corner, but at least he wouldn’t have to tackle anyone there. He would certainly be a threat after the catch.

Maybe it would have been a good idea
… when he was in college, or as a rookie. But that dog’s awful old to be teaching a new book of tricks.

I've mentioned this before
But the kind of technique that WRs and CBs need are two different skillsets. Sure they both need to run. Although, one is usually running forwards (WR) and the other backwards and side to side (CB). The wide receiver uses timing and knowledge of zones to beat defenders while the corner will watch the QB and the receiver to try and figure out his best way to establish his coverage. The wide receiver’s main chaqnge of speed asset is to slow down and accelerate at appropriate times while the corner needs fluidity in his hips to change direction at the drop of a hat. Like I said, different skillsets.
On top of that. The logic behind the idea that because a player can make a good block on a player that doesn’t see him coming in an all star game where the expectation of physicality is lessened can translate into effective coverage and tackling ability seems very, very flawed. Don’t you think?
And, lastly, the amount of plays a player has to learn in the NFL these days to play on one side of the ball is staggering. To expect him to learn another side of the ball and not miss a beat is really pushing the limits of what a player can. And then there’s staying healthy doing a job that you’re not accustomed to doing when studies show that injuries occur more often in sports where a player is playing out position introduces a whole other set of risks.
I'm the first person to admit that I'm wrong about a lot of things, but I'm going to be the last person to admit I'm wrong about what we're currently talking about.

well said
The only question I’ve got is wherther its smart for VJ to be cracking heads in a meaningless game. At least it wasn’t a shot to the legs I hope

Cro...
I know everyone has been piling on cro’s tackling technique or lack thereof…me included since I went to the Willie Buchanon school of playing.
But one thing definitely should be noted…there are a lot of horrible cornerbacks out there who can’t tackle or cover. Missing a tackle isn’t as bad as watching your CB get torched over and over. Most teams have holes at CB
So be careful what you wish for…there are a good dozen corners above Cro; but like 50 who are worse….way worse
Cro doesn't miss tackles
he just doesn’t even attempt to make them. Cromartie is a coward and I’d bet money some of his teammates feel the same way.

Ain't just teammates...
Backseat fans like me can’t stand it…..but watch some of the other teams cornerbacks and you will cringe…they don’t tackle, they can’t cover…they look like confused puppies in a backyard
Agreed.
But few things are more disheartening than losing a game because your corner quits on tackles. Not whiffs… that would be ok. Not gets KTFO… that would be forgivable. QUITS.
