2009 Season in Review: The Wide Receivers - Dawgs By Nature
Browns' fan Ryan Kelsey would love to have Vincent Jackson or Malcom Floyd in Cleveland next year. Good luck with that.
2009 Adjusted Games Lost Totals
In the NFL, success can be as simple as staying healthy. There have been a million articles written about extra hours of practice and film study yielding surprise playoff appearances, but often those same teams do the same things a year later and lose three or four games more than they did in the previous campaign. Injuries are the NFL's version of Occam's Razor.

Keep your receivers
I hope you hang on to VJ and MF this off-season. You have an excellent receiving corps and it would be a shame to break it up.
I think RB will be your big concern for 2010. GL with that (not sarcasm)
I am hoping Vaughn Martin steps it up a notch. I like everything I have heard about the young man. I realize that if he had been any greener he would have been seed when you got him but I think he has the potential to be a solid player for the very long haul.

Do you have any opinions on the guys Kiper mentions would fit our needs?

Of course I do
I’m not a big Dwyer fan, the times I saw him I was not impressed and the scouting reports don’t do much for me either.
I hadn’t seen Rico McCoy as a 2nd round pick before, The Hair must like him better than others. The Chargers haven’t been known for drafting smallish LBs, so that would be a strange pick.
Weatherspoon would be a fine 2nd rounder. I’m not sure he’ll go that low though. I talked about him in my bowl game scouting. I was thinking of him as a ILB, but it seems that he might only work as an OLB. I’m not sure his pass rushing is good enough for that. He might not be a fit for the 3-4.
Gene Atkins has impressed a lot of people to the point where some see the college DT playing DE in the 4-3. He’s be a 3-4 DE for the Chargers, with the ability to be a quality pass rusher in nickel situations. Normally the Chargers prefer 300 LB DEs though and he’s not even 290.
Selvish Capers showed how raw he is at the Senior Bowl practices. I wouldn’t spend a 2nd rounder on him, especially if his upside is only a RT. I’d rather use that high of a pick on somehow who was ready to play RT with the upside of being a LT.
I like Demaryius Thomas, he would be a quality use of a 3rd rounder. I talked about him in a bowl games post.
I don’t know much how Mitchell other than he meets the Chargers supposed WR size requirements. He surprised people by coming out early, which always make me wonder about decision making skills.
Hall Davis I guess is a potential 3-4 OLB. He’s just at the size limit though so he’d have to trim down. Not sure about his coverage ability there. Other sites don’t really see him as a 3rd rounder though.
O’Brien Schofield blew out his knee at the Senior Bowl. He will not go in the 3rd round.
Chris Scott seems to be another one that The Hair likes more than others. I’ve seen his weight listed as very different values (316 vs 354). I wonder if that’s an issue or just internet misinformation.
I'm the first person to admit that I'm wrong about a lot of things, but I'm going to be the last person to admit I'm wrong about what we're currently talking about.

They just interviewed Weatherspoon during the Senior Bowl
He’s says that the NFL guys told him he’d be an inside (Mike) linebacker in the 3-4 and a weakside linebacker in the 4-3. He has a acquired a reputation as a talker (though not necessarily a trash talker, more like someone who is constantly talking up his teammates, motivating, etc.) and a leader.

I just saw Clary at California Pizza Kitchen
He is mammoth. He had to move the entire table to get out of the booth.
I hate you,

Him and Louis Vasquez hide the sun when you’re near them. They’re HUGE.

Haha I hate that pigeon toed pic of Merriman
Clary actually was pretty good this year. He only played 10 games which might be a concern. He probably will never be considered “elite”, but unless someone really special comes around in the draft I think we have bigger issues.

And there's a point to be made
That Dombrowski actually is that someone special already, but just needs more time to develop.

I think the Chargers should consider drafting a RT
But I wouldn’t want to see them pull the lever on an OT in the first four rounds unless he’s clearly a better bet than any player at a bigger need position. But a 6th or 7th rounder to feed the PS might not be a terrible idea.

The Chargers typically feed their PS with undrafted free agents.
