LT on XX 1090
LT reflects on this season, including that final game last week. He talks of his future with or without the Bolts, and how disappointed he is in his role with the Chargers over the past two years. He still wants that championship, and I think he knows he'll never get it.
He sounds soooo sad.

He is soooo gone
He’s gonna be a Saint next year.
I just want to get paid to draw naked girls, is that so much to ask?
Why would the Saints want him?

We don't want him
We have our Reggie Bush no room for both of them, unless the Saints trade Reggie for LT
NO will not happen

He won't be a saint until long after he dies, I'm afraid.
But he’s got the miracles part covered.

well
drew brees loves him i fear he might go to denver
okay i have cereal palsy arhrtis and chronic fatiue as well i have a grea life loveing folks some days are better that other days i got a make a wish in 2001 saw my favorive team the broncos was the trip of the lifetime i wish everyone couild gotten to enjoy that with me i know some of u hate the broncos and that ok but i bleed organ and bule reseident broncos fan for ap lol denver will rise again resident broncos fan for every blog
Why would he go to Denver?
They have a good young back and are no where near superbowl worthy.
No superbowl contending team is going to want a broken down running back who they really have no prior connections to. LT will have to make a choice this off season, come back to SD with a very reduced role and a much lighter pay check but have a chance of being on a good team that may be capable of making it to the superbowl or go to a bad team like Seattle Cleveland or Oakland where he is really only being used to put butts in seats.
There is no way he's taking another pay cut
And I’m sure Drew would try to convince the top brass in New Orleans to get LT.

A lot of the greatest players in history never got a ring.
But being immortalized in the Hall of Fame isn’t a bad consolation.
Texans, Dolphins, Bengals, Eagles Packers, Bears and Falcons are the only good teams that could use a backup RB and run systems that he would (kindof) fit. I doubt he’ll leave SD to go play for a bad team, considering how miserable he was when SD was losing.

What about the Patriots?
They have a history of bringing in veterans and they have a need at running back?
It makes me sick to think about that, but NE seems to be as likely destination as any
I could see that
but New England would have to release Fred Taylor first. There’s only room for one washed-up-veteran-running back on their roster.

Is Taylor even signed to a multiyear deal?
I'm the first person to admit that I'm wrong about a lot of things, but I'm going to be the last person to admit I'm wrong about what we're currently talking about.
LT wouldn't take that kind of deal.
He could get that here.

In that case
he may not play next year, because it’s hard for me to think he’ll get much more than that.
Like Steve said already, LT hates NE
But at the same time, NE does have a history of picking up the Chargers’ cast-offs
LT HATES the Patsies.

But he loves playing football
And the alternatives are the Browns, the Seahawks and the Redskins.

I liked the Houston idea.
That team could probably use a leader like him. And they got fat stacks o’ cash.
I'm the first person to admit that I'm wrong about a lot of things, but I'm going to be the last person to admit I'm wrong about what we're currently talking about.
Maybe Pete Carroll might be able to use him as a pass threat or
Since Pete loves RB’s, he might want to stock up on RB’s until he has the mix or stable of RB’s he’s comfortable with running.
My other curious draft day event is this, How many if at all, USC players will Pete draft and if so, will he struggle to cut them if they can’t make the grade at the NFL level?

I could see Houston as a possibility
They’re probably one off-season from being serious contenders, and they need a veteran back without ball-security issues to mentor Steve Slaton. That’s an intriguing thought right there…
Banned from Arrowhead Pride... and Music City Miracles certainly don't like me very much, either.

Not sure why any of those teams would have any intrest in LT
then they could get a better back up RB though the draft or other FA options.

Haha, I want to see him go to ATL
and be Michael Turner’s backup.
I hate you,

Why would he be so sad in his current role?
We still give him many carries, but even he has to know that he does very little with them. Why would we give him 20 carries in a game when they go for very few yards? We won’t, and nobody else will.
Kenjon Barner in a DNA helmet. 'Nuff said.
I think his ego is disappointed
He knows it for the best. but he just wishes he could still be the back worthy of those carries. It’s disappointing to him.

LT has three options
1) Take less money in any of a whole lot of places, probably including SD. He says unequivocally he won’t do this. I don’t buy it: I mean, I think he believes it, but I wouldn’t discount this possibility entirely.
2) See if he can find some sad-sack team willing to take him on just to put butts in seats. This seems unlikely to me: I’m not sure how much of a draw somebody else’s washed-up superstar is, and if your team sucks and needs a running back, it’ll still suck when it’s got one (’03 Chargers, anybody?).
3) Retire.

I'm going with #1
I think someone pays him to be their short yardage back ala Marcus Allen in his last few years at KC. He might even be able to muster a Jerome Bettis final year where he mentors a younger back while sharing some of the load. He will probably get a little more money to do this somewhere other than SD and it will probably be easier for his ego to do it somewhere else. I would prefer him to do so out of the AFC West, but I think KC and Denver might be likely spots for him to fill that role.

He could do that here in SD. and I agree I beleive he will go to KC where he will share the load and mentor exactly what he has been doing with sproles only prob is sproles does not have the size to compliment LT’s style of running. but the kid that took over for LJ in KC does and thats where he will be! Sad as it is to say it!
He was on again this morning
with Billy Ray and Scott Kaplan. Basically reiterated the same things he said in the earlier interview—he was unhappy this season and won’t take a paycut. He also expressed frustration with unspecified teammates that weren’t as dedicated to the team.
Maybe it’s just me, but going on the radio multiple times and whining about not getting enough carries and refusing to take a paycut to stay with the team doesn’t strike me as something a good teammate would do.

That’s because it’s not.
