What It Do: 1/13 Chargers Links

Nick Hardwick on the Darren Smith Show January 12 (mp3)
Nick Hardwick says he's ready to go...right now. He discussed preparing for a tough Jets defense & what they've picked up from facing a Rex Ryan defense in the past.

A big change likely brewing in Denver - Bill Williamson - ESPN
With Denver offensive line coach Rick Dennison headed to Houston as offensive coordinator, there will be a major change in Denver. Expect the Broncos to begin to fully move away from the zone-blocking scheme the franchise made famous. Denver head coach Josh McDaniels kept the basis of the system in 2008, his first season with the Broncos.

Rerun: Does the bye week increase home field advantage?
There seems to be a generally held belief that teams with byes in the first round of the playoffs have an increased advantage in the semifinals. For example, since 1990, the home teams in the semifinals have won 77.9% of games, compared to 69.1% in the wildcard round, and 58.8% in the championship games. Not only has the winning percentage been higher, there have been more noticeable blowouts in the semifinals than any other round.

Here comes the run - Kevin Acee - SignOnSanDiego.com
Chargers tasked with blunting Jets’ NFL-best ground game, forcing them to throw

Chris Harris' Fave Moments of '09 - My Return from Injury Against the Washington Redskins - Cat Scratch Reader
Panthers SS Chris Harris created an account at Cat Scratch Fever and has been posting FanPosts since November. I wonder who will be the first Chargers player to post at BFTB.

X factor: Malcolm Floyd, Chargers WR - AFC West Blog - ESPN
The Jets had the No. 1 ranked defense in the NFL in the regular season. New York features shutdown cornerback Darrelle Revis. If Revis is on No.1 San Diego receiver Vincent Jackson, watch for San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers to go to Floyd to ignite the passing game.

Scott’s year is like team’s - SignOnSanDiego.com
Hobbled by a sore knee in training camp, Scott had been a surprise casualty when the Chargers made their finals cuts in early September. They told the nose tackle to get his knee repaired, to work hard and wait by the phone.

Phillips charged with domestic battery - Associated Press
Too bad we couldn't sign this guy in the off-season.

Big names and big values abound at DT - Kevin Weidl - ESPN
As we survey the NFL draft landscape following an eventful college football season one of the biggest storylines is the overall depth of the defensive tackle class. The 2009 draft saw six defensive tackles taken in the first two rounds but this year there could be as many as eight, making defensive tackle perhaps the top position in the draft.

I agree

I also think something like, “Electric Glide Around the Web” would work too, heh.

I was torn between calling it Electric Glide and What It Do. Perhaps it will be Electric Glide tomorrow. Changing the title from day to day keeps me awake while putting these together.
