WTF????

Why does it seem that our team is decimated so early? Damn, what can we expect to put together this season with our team limping into each game? This sucks big time.

Chance favors the prepared mind.......

Hopefully we can manage some 40 point victories early in the season

And then get healty, and BE RESTED for the playoff run.

the positive...

is the coaches may have very high confidence in the back-ups, and could see more reps will help them get better. which means they don’t need to hurry the starters back, so it gives them a chance at being 100% when they return.

peace out

Kevin Burnett

What the hell?

Burnett and Cooper got into a collision at practice today.

They’re keeping mum about how badly hurt he is. Cooper is apparently fine.

Davis?

Don’t the Chargers know by now not to touch Buster, his injury plagued-ness is highly contagious

that still puzzels me

why do we hold on to the players that don’t work out? i’ve seen a pattern though, AJ likes to let players play out thier contracts rather than realease them. could be good business sense for the cap, but the other one is, it’s ego. Davis was AJ’s 1st round pick, and AJ doesen’t like egg on his face. then again a bust is a bust and holding on to him only hurts the team. and if theres any truth to that, the track record speaks to support it. in AJ’s positoion i assume the “TEAM” comes first, and one of those good business decisions is cutting your losses, and freeing up a roster spot. Davis could be a good reciever, some where else, it happens all the time. right now i think it’s time to move on.

thoughts?……

peace out

Eh.

Probably, but remember when Sproles got brokeded every year? I know he broke his leg one of hi first two years. He was always hurt.I wanted his shit gone, but I was wrong as hitler.

by BORTZ on Sep 26, 2009 10:19 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions   0 recs

ah

but in sproles rookie year, LT was a moster back. and in sproles second year, when he broke his leg, Turner stepped up his game. so all he had to do was come back healty and contribute, which he did on returns. davis however has only contributed to keep the doctors employed, taking a roster spot from a healthy player, and questioning AJ picking him as a 1st rounder.

peace out

I don't recall Sproles ever being injured, except the missed 2nd season due to broken leg.

And nobody has offered any proof that he has ever been injured beyond that.

by SJO on Sep 28, 2009 4:18 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I confess

For a long time I talked about Sproles as if he was injury-prone, but you’re absolutely right. Outside of the broken leg he really hasn’t missed any time.

You're wrong

The reason for a signing bonus is to discourage players getting labeled busts too early and being released. It’s a large investment that you’re reminded of every time you want to cut him. On top of that, releasing Buster would negatively effect the cap for this season and next season.

The fact of the matter is, they still believe in Buster’s talent. They’re not paying him a heck of a lot, he’s not being asked to be a huge part of the offense and he’s as young as most NFL rookies. To label him a bust because he hasn’t been able to stay healthy before the age of 23 is ludicrous.

The reason players have to wait at lest 3 years after graduating high school to enter the draft is because studies show that kids that are 21 or younger (I believe Buster was 21 when he was drafted) are not physically ready to handle the pounding of the NFL. As he ages and gets stronger, he should be able to stay healthy and grow into the potential AJ Smith saw in him.

It has zero to do with ego.

21 year old Patrick Chung begs to differ!

Next up, Washington State. Make'um pay!

It’s also worth remembering that Davis was particularly young when we drafted him and is still pretty damn young.

I'm not going to say "fire Hurd" yet...

… but there’s some systemic issue here that needs looking into.

Ouch at ILB

Cooper, Siler, and Burnnet all nicked – Pretty thin at ILB.

Merriman & Applewhite too.

Almost easier to list the healthy Linebackers. Who is gonna chase down the Wildcat?

Siler missed Thursday with the flu that’s been going around. He had full participation on Friday.

Nice to see Travis Johnson earning his keep so soon

Did the guy jump on the trainer’s table as soon as he landed at Lindberg feild?

Or did the EMT’s carry him off the plane?

We should return him,

I am positive that they shipped him to us broken

He played a few minutes in Oakland, right?

We’ve already got more use out of next year’s 5th-rounder than this year’s 5th rounder! Oh, wait, if he doesn’t do anything they spent a 6th on him. Never mind.

At least we would have a good backup waiting,

Volek has looked pretty darn good, he even won us a playoff game against Indy. I do see your point though

Can we get some Purell?

Are these guys kissing each other or what? There is more illness on the CHargers team than my daughter’s preschool. Wipe down the locker room and weight room for our sanity’s sake. Extra Vitamin C and hand washing please.
If Joey Proter is hurt that helps even it out a bit. He and Taylor are the focus of that D. Crowder too.

Every locker room has these issues. Look at the Browns and their inability to get rid of the staph infection for the past few seasons.

KA: Merriman, Burnett both say they'll play

“While listed as questionable, [Merriman] is expected to play Sunday, and he expects to continue to progress as he did from the opener to last week’s game…. Burnett downplayed the injury and said he’d play tomorrow.”

No Early game thread?

I also need help. I can’t watch the game because Yom Kippur starts at sundown and I’m going to dinner at 430 so I’m going to miss the game. Also I don’t have a DVR. Is there anyway I can watch it later tonight? Replay on NFL Network or that pay site thing? Can someone beam it into my head while I’m gone?
