Giants huh...
I hope we run the table against the NFC EAST. That will show them, damn wipper snappers.
Chance favors the prepared mind.......
Biggest concern is the FO VOA rating
since it’s based on stats rather than opinion. Although it’s only a two game sample, SD’s offense and defense rankings, 23rd and 25th respectively, aren’t what you hope for.
They’re not adjusted for opponent yet. I think that will make a difference.

I love the Football Outsiders one
I know it is solely based on a statistical scheme, but the Packers at at 6 and the Chargers are at 22. The Pack lose to THE BENGALS and jump up about 10 positions and the Chargers lose to the Ravens and move below the Raiders. It’s so comical that if I worked at FO I would not be telling anyone.
What this really means...
… is that two games are a poor sample.

not really
because unlike other sports, every game matters in the NFL. we only have 16, the NBA, MLB, and even hockey, play what, 100+ games. so the “it’s only 2 games” talk never sits well with me. last season it was only 2 games, and before we knew it we were 3-5.
but form fan perspective, i like the rankings, it gives me an idea of where my team is, statistacaly, against others. it seems they have them hovering around the top ten. which is good, considering how we’ve played with injuries.
peace out
I don’t think you understand the concept of sample size.

they don't take into account opponent yet, either
In addition to being a relatively small sample size, opponents aren’t taken into consideration until week 4.
Still, it’s never comforting to be ranked in the bottom ten for OL adjusted line yards and dead last for DL adjusted line yards.
@RFMVP – Green Bay dropped a slot from last week (in total VOA rank).
i agree
we should be in the top five, but better playcalling could help. make some more defensive stops, a few sacks sprinkled in. even more touchdowns, and the ranking moves up.
peace out
Florio has us at #6.

Maybe you could include the LVSC power rankings too?
I tend to think Vegas has a pretty good read on the teams’ relative strengths.

Weren't those Footbal Outsiders picking us to win the whole thing in the begining?
I guess they revised their computer model
They still have us ranked 3rd
by those projections.
As I said last week. Steve (Grey Suit) is using the DVOA rankings, which only take into account 2009 performance. Their projection rankings, called DAVE, take into account projection plus 2009 performance. And like I said, I think we are hanging on to third place with the Colts taking the #1 spot.

Just for yucks
It would be interesting to see how last year’s week 2 Power Rank correlated with the Power Rank at the end of the season. Same with DVOA, etc.
