Chargers fine Cromartie for Twitter complaint | ProFootballTalk.com
Multiple league sources tell us that the Chargers have fined cornerback Antonio Cromartie $2,500 for complaining on Twitter about the quality of the food at training camp.
As best we can tell, this is the offending tweet, from July 31 at 3:46 p.m.: "Man we have 2 have the most nasty food of any team. Damn can we upgrade 4 str8 years the same ish maybe that's y we can't we the SB we need."
That phrase translates to the following in English, we think: "Man, we have to have the most nasty food of any team. Damn, can we upgrade? Four straight years the same sh-t. Maybe that's why we can't get the Super Bowl we need."
Per one source, coach Norv Turner has specifically told the team not to talk about any team matters on Twitter or any other online social media.
UPDATE: Kawika Mitchell wasn't pleased with the Chargers for fining Cromartie for not being pleased with the food.
Here's Mitchell's multi-tweet response: "Players play this game. They're tryin to get us to play for free. If we want to complain about some sh!t then let us b. We're just like any other person workin. If u don't like somethin I'm sure you'll complain. Our voice is our rite.
"It's bullsh!t that the league is scared of twitter. We have opinions. We sit back and listen to all the bullsh!t media, coaches and fans have to say, so if the chargers food sucks. It sucks. Please! B mad at real sh!t."
SECOND UPDATE: Antonio Cromartie has responded in an audio clip at 619sports. To summarize the clip, Cro thinks it's a bit of a joke and won't change he stance on the food. Also, he is not going to say who he thinks the "Twitter Police" are in Chargers Park.

Sounds like he doesn't have anyone to blame but himself.

I forgot to blame the food
for our 40 years of SB futility.
so the list so far is: ice bowl, Schottenhiemer, Norv, Cheating Pats, Merriman’s knee, and training camp food… did I miss anything?

lets stay classy...
I think this fine stuff might be to help encourage some of the more twitterpated players to THINK a moment before they tweet. I like the zero tolerance for disobeying Norv too :D
Plus, There is an entire staff of people who work really hard putting together the spread for these guys, maybe he’s getting crappy food b/c he has a crappy attitude? I’m sure the dude making $8/hr to cater to multimillion dollar athletes really appreciates taking the blame for not winning the SB Cro even if it was a facetious remark :p I’ve been sticking up for him b/c he seemed to be turning his focus around but I’m no fan of rudeness – less talk more walk pls.

Possible correction
I think that the “ish” in “4 str8 years the same ish” wasn’t meant to be “sh*t” but was meant to be short for “issue”.
Therefore, the sentence would read: “Four straight years, the same issue.”

Rap music
Which has a ridiculous amount of cussing has some sweet ways of censoring it for radio play. One way is reversing the sound clip of the offending word, so a word like “sh*t” would sound something along the lines of “ish.” Yes. In other words, Cromartie is undoubtedly disgusted by TC fewd.

???
This is what they are fining him for? Cro has tweeted (twittered?) about selling drugs and how dog fighting is just something that some people do, but he talks about the food and now they take action?
I hope they used that money to get the team some good grub.

It's plain and simple
Norv told the team not to twitter about team issues. Cromartie violated the rule. He gets fined.
If it had been any other rule that was broken I would have expected the same treatment. It doesn’t matter the specifics of the tweet.

I'm okay with Kawika Mitchell saying what he said too
You can call the policy bullsh!t, the policy may even be bullsh!t.
But, once it’s a rule, it needs to be followed. Especially in a league that is based on players having discipline and a team first attitude.
(On a side note, I’m inclined to say the policy is not bullsh!t. The team has a right to protect it’s product and it is in the team’s interest to make sure it’s employees aren’t diminishing that product. And, in this case, the team doesn’t want someone going around say how the team can’t win a Super Bowl, no matter what the convoluted reasoning is.)

Also instead of tweeting about the food, if he had a real complaint he should have brought it up with the Director of Meal Service instead of going to the public first.

Oh that reminds me
Kevin Acee mentioned who the caterer for the food in his interview with Darrin Smith on the Padres BP show yesterday.
It’s the Brigantine Family of Restaurants. And, the problem isn’t quality, it’s the consistency. They get bored of the same stuff day after day.

The Brigantine?
That my idea of a highend restaurant.
I wonder where Cro dines… The Brigantine is definitely NOT Hometown Buffet.

Does all this Twittering sound like a distraction?
It does to me. So last year it was Deion, and the hip, and the paternity suits, and this year it’s his obsession with letting the world know everything there is to know about Cro. I hope I’m wrong, but I’m extremely glad that Cason is on the team.
