The Associated Press: Chargers break camp; RG still up for grabs
Coach Norv Turner said the battle at right guard between Kynan Forney and rookie Louis Vasquez remains competitive and a decision probably won't be made until the week of the regular-season opener.

Vasquez's potential
Vasquez got exposed by the blitz in the AZ game, but they must really think alot of him to consider giving him the job. He certainly has the upside, just hope waiting for it doesn’t land Rivers on his backside.
Forney didn't look a whole lot better the week before
Last week was Vasquez’s first NFL game EVER, so he has an excuse. Of course, the first preseason game was Forney’s first game after a year off. If Merriman gets a break because he was injured last year and might take some time to work back into it, Forney should as well.
I think the gist of this competition is that no one has shown that they are the obvious choice to start. Both have had injury issues during camp and both have shown weeknesses during the games. Forney is the safe pick, but Vasquez is the higher potential pick. I’m glad this competition is still open. Maybe Saturday night will shed some additional light on who should be starting.

Still better than Goff
I remember a few months ago the commentors at Arrowhead Pride were destroying me because I was saying Goff was finished. Now, almost a month into training camp, the Chiefs had to swing a trade with Miami to bring in another RG because Goff was so bad.

I don't
even think they blitzed that often, just a bunch of stunts. And while some of it was Vasquez, Clary owns some of it too; the right side of the line just does not look good so far.
