Funny
I like the way the commenters accused you of massive bias and then came out with those statements about Rivers etc.

Sad to see
all the name calling. I hope we are a little more civilized over here at BFTB.
Do or do not. There is no try.

I would hope so too
Just so you guys know, primetime 07 e-mailed me personally to apologize for the behavior of their commentors. That blog and that fanbase carries itself with a lot of class. I think it’s just hard heading into the preseason to try and face the reality that you probably have a long season ahead of you.

We aren’t uncivilized… I’m sure on your site you too have those who don’t alway rep you guys very well. I don’t remember seeing any name calling other than screaming monkeys. Chiefs fans hate Rivers because he’s good. Just like we hope you will soon have the same hatred for Cassel.
Thanks for answering the questions John, it was a good read.

Ah the delusions of a rival fanbase
I love how the “I hate Philip Rivers” argument always comes up when someone runs out of ammo against the Chargers. Heaven forbid we have QB who plays football with the love and passion of a kid on Christmas morning :P Not only that, but he can actually back-up his talk (which is curse word free!). Those who hate PR hate him not b/c he “runs his mouth” or has a “bad attitude” but b/c they wouldn’t like him anyway because he’s a Charger. It’s a convenient excuse manufactured by ESPN for the lazy and biased :p
KC gave us a run for our money, if that team had been able to finish they would have done much better last year and with Pioli on board will certainly become competitive in the years to come. This is the NFL, at a time when parity is working in full effect. ANYONE can win on any given Sunday and anyone can lose. How many games did the Bolts lose by less than 3-5pts? Within the final minutes? They didn’t go 8-8 with blow out losses – they could have just as easily gone 10-6 or even 12-4. Between injuries and Inept defensive coaching we were lucky to survive, but we did it. Our boys never gave up and it paid off, don’t like it? Boo hoo. It is what it is.
I don’t mind being underestimated – but I know just how good this team can be and I’m proud to be a Bolt fan. 0-16 or 16-0. That’s not arrogance or being a “blowhard” (tx random KC fan for that one) it’s called pride and loyalty.
I’m actually more worried about the Raiders this year – with Garcia and Neal being signed it might be just what their offense needs to get going. They have decent receivers, great RB’s and now a leader and scrappy QB + LoNeal is hands down the greatest FB of the modern era if not of all time. He’s the kind of guy who has knowledge AND leadership which wil be invaluable to their young RB’s if they choose to listen. The real test will be how their D stacks up with Ryan gone. If they can get some consistency over there they have had enough low round draft picks to be competitive for sure. Which pains me to say because I really hate those stinkin raidahs.
All in all, this conference can’t stay craptastic forever and I for one welcome the rise in competition. Bring it on! ;)

Agree with you re: Rivers
He’s a division rival so my disdain comes from those 4,000 yard passing seasons :)

I wouldn’t be too worried about the Raiders. JaMarcus Russell will get more than a few games to prove his worth (which probably isn’t much IMO) so Garcia won’t have the reigns for the entire season.
As far as Neal, yeah he’s a great FB, arguably one of the best all time. But FB is one of the least impact positions on the field so I wouldn’t put much stock into how much he’ll change the team.
Thanks for the comment and here’s to a rise in competition!

Nice post, Syd
I see that you’ve found your way over here as well.
My wife is a KC fan, so I do root for the Chiefs except when they play my beloved Bolts or we need for them to lose. :-) I think they’re still a year or two away. Not sold on Cassell & I think letting TG go was a big mistake. Who knows what will happen in Denver hahahahahaha. Oakland has some pieces in place, but Jamarcus hasn’t shown a propensity for hard work yet & their OL still has holes. Plus the ever-present Al factor.

Props to John
Very solid replies. I am curious to see how the Raider spokeman handles these questions and the fan base.

Not bad analysis
But looking through the rose colored glasses of a Chiefs fan, i have to disagree with you on some things.

This was a very solid read
I think you did a really good job backing up your arguments that you maintained to be true, as well as being the first to concede your original points that felt you got wrong. (that is one trainwreck of a sentence)

Good job standing up to
some really ridiculous assertions on their part, and doing so with class.
