Did the Broncos Try to Pawn the Cutlery?

Over at nfl.com they are saying that prior to trading Cassel for the Chiefs second round choice, they were involved with talks with Tampa Bay and Detroit.  The deals would have sent Cassel to the Broncos and Cutler to either Tampa or Detroit.  While those wheels were spinning, the Chiefs ended up with Cassel.  It's interesting to me that the Broncos would entertain dumping Cutler; there are certainly no sacred cows for these new coaches.

Over in Kansas City their Pro Bowl guard Waters wants out after a stormy meeting with new head coach Todd Haley and a refusal of Scott Pioli to meet with him.  If they are busting Waters chops, you have to think that Larry Johnson and Tony Gonzalez may not last.  Pioli is certainly rocking the boat; I'm not too sure Cassel is going to pan out and their defense needs a pass rush.  These divisional games are going to be very interesting next season.

Haven't seen Axion lately

So I’m gonna say, ‘Hell no!’.

I love this

Free agency is turning into "which angry superstar could the Chargers trade for at good value? I’d take Waters if he wants out so badly and I bet if things got bad enough he could be had for a 3rd (this year) and a 2nd (next year). That’d be worth it.

Also, Shaun Rogers would be a great pickup to eventually replace Jamal at the nose, but I don’t know if he’d be willing to play DE for a season or two in the 3-4 and I don’t know that Cleveland is ready to let him go. If they did and he said he wouldn’t play for Cleveland, he could be gotten for probably the same as Waters. They’re both worth 1st rounders, but you have to remember that they both have a lot of money attached to them.

Either

would be an awesome pickup. I can’t see KC trading Waters to a divisional rival though. Rogers would be a great pickup; but there are so many teams shifting to 3-4; I’m wondering if we wouldn’t get outbid.
