Chargers/Redskins Injury Report: Thursday

So, for the sake of my own sanity, I've decided to go ahead and post the practice participation reports for Thursday and Friday but skip Wednesday.  Why?  Because half the team usually sits out on Wednesday practices.  I don't think Shawne Merriman has practiced on a Wednesday all year, and I don't think Jamal Williams has made a Wednesday practice in 5 years.  However, if I were to post them every Wednesday there would still be people convinced that the people missing Wednesday practice were seriously injured and I'd have to explain the situation over and over again.

Anyways, you'll find the practice participation report for Wednesday and Thursday after the jump.  Charger players that have missed both days of practice include Jacob Hester (shoulder), Merriman (foot), Legedu Naanee (foot) and Eric Weddle (knee).  Those last three are all guys that have nagging injuries that could use some rest, so they're probably getting the entire week off to do just that.

One thing I do like seeing is that Norv is not letting up off the gas completely, and neither are the players.  Guys like Travis Johnson and Kevin Burnett have nagging injuries, but after resting on Wednesday they're out there on Thursday and practicing like this were any other week.  That's a great way to keep the winning streak going.  Not having Albert Haynesworth or LaRon Landry on the field on Sunday is another way to keep the winning streak alive.

I was kind of hoping Haynesworth would play.

It would do Nick good to get some playing time against an elite defensive tackle.

Deciding who's even going to be active

is going to be interesting…. Norv says Buster’s got a good chance of playing…. What about Michael Bennett?… I’d have Merriman inactive, but I don’t have a clue who else….

I actually want to see Billy Volek get some real good PT…. He has only thrown one pass all season, and of course nobody wants to see Philip not in there for every play in the playoffs (unless we’re on the right side of a blow-out), but 2 years ago Volek led us to a playoff victory. I want him sharp, as well as Rivers (of course).

Buster and Bennett will get their shots. Merriman and Phillips will definitely be out, along with Weddle. Castillo, Travis Johnson and Stephen Cooper will have limited roles on defense. Rivers, Sproles and Gates will have limited roles on offense.

Prepare to be impressed with big games from the following people:

Buster
Kris Wilson
Jon Runyan
Marques Harris
Paul Oliver

Is James Holt going to get any downs at his natural position?

He has been a very solid special teams player, but I want to see how he does actually playing OLB.

Banned from Arrowhead Pride... and Music City Miracles certainly don't like me very much, either.

I know this game won't necessarily decide it

but I’m sure the Chargers are eager to see how Buster Davis fits into the equation next year. I agree with one of your earlier comments. Buster definitely has the skills, if he can just prepare well for games and consistently stay on the field.
