Open Thread: Unimportant games
For the sake of keeping on eye on future playoff opponents, and trying to stay entertained throughout the day by watching games that actually mean something, here's what games you should keep an eye on today.
- Jaguars at Patriots (by the way, that #2 seed is even bigger when you realize the Patriots are 7-0 at home and 2-5 on the road)
- Ravens at Steelers
- Jets at Colts (if Caldwell decides to play his starters)
- Broncos at Eagles (GO EAGLES! I have no real reason besides the fact that I like rooting against divisional opponents.)
Have fun in the comments, kiddies. I'll be around periodically to make sure things aren't getting too out of control.

more along the lines of Mushmouth from Fat Albert.
Banned from Arrowhead Pride... and Music City Miracles certainly don't like me very much, either.

Nice
I am eager to see how he plays against the Jets D. The Jets are a matchup-nightmare for them.

Pretty much the last hurdle for the colts
Even though they have to travel to buffalo, I don’t see buffalo giving them much of a game.

I'm wondering
If unlike the last few games with the steelers and ravens if this will be a shoot out.

A note about our chargers team this year
We will have a better away record (7-1) then home record (6-2 if we win next week) this year.

Those 2 home losses were to playoff teams too.

I'd rather the Eagles lose John
as much as the Broncos suck and I wish upon them nothing but failure; Watching the Steelers miss the playoffs would be tasty.

With JAX and MIA being bounced today and TEN tossed out on Xmas
it leaves DEN PIT BAL HOU fighting for two spots. All four I assume are 8-7 (or will be when the Broncos are finished being curbstomped by the Iggles), winners go on and losers go home.
In other developments, Saints are gassed. The first round bye will do them wonders.
Fantasy Championships going on here.
I’m in the BoltsFromTheBlue1 championship.
Needless to say, I’m hoping that the Rams can at least keep the Ari game close. I need more Fitz TDs! >_<
Curtis Painter in for the Colts.
The Jets’ chances at winning just jumped big time.

Colts take out Manning
Curtis Painter gets stripped, Jets get a defensive TD and the lead.
Shame to see a perfect record/a win just handed over like that.
Thats too bad
the Jets I think just had their strength of victory tiebreaker increase dramatically, if it comes down to that. I hear vomiting in Pittsburgh right now.
Yep, a Jets win against Cincy will put them in the playoffs
Regardless of whatever Pittsburgh does against Miami next week.
To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.
The Colts were going to lose anyway.

Yeah, sorry for the loss
I want to see you guys make it to make the AFC West seem better. And about Oakland, who knows where they are? If they get half a quarterback and can be semi consistent they could push for the playoffs themselves next year,
Spoke too soon
I thought the game was more of a blowout then that! Take those Eagles down!
Better luck next week
At least the Chiefs roll over and die to non AFC North teams.
well
we play kc we shouild win

You should go get yourself a Dolphins cap or something, too.
The alternative is a Raiders cap, so Dolphins it is. Maybe even a Henne jersey… nah.

Oh, noes. It's worse than I thought.
If the following teams all win, there will be a mob of five 9-7 teams:
Pats @ TEXANS
STEELERS @ Dolphins
Chiefs @ BRONCOS
RAVENS @ Raiders
Bengals @ JETS
Houston’s conference record is inferior, and their HTH loss to the Jets means they lose all tiebreakers. Denver is next up, with head-head losses to the Ravens and Steelers, and the Ravens own the tiebreaker over Pittsburgh. If the Jets beat Cincy, they’ll own common games on everybody. So it’s NYJ-Bal-Pit-Den-Hou in tiebreakers, with no funny chains.
Wow. Denver is on pace for two “historic collapses” in as many years. I don’t even wish that on the Broncos.

If four of those teams lose, there will be an 8-8 AFC Playoff team 2 years running
And an 8-8 playoff team in one conference or the other in 3 of 4 years.

Oakland's been weird.
They beat teams that are better then them, and lose to teams they should beat.
Them beating Baltimore wouldn’t surprise me at all at this point.
If the Steelers somehow make it in
they could make some noise. Here’s hoping that the Jets and someone besides Pittsburgh make the #5 and #6 seeds. While we are musing about this, I hope Houston dumps NE next week too, just for giggles and grins.
