Maybe the cat banning was good luck, though. If we lose on Friday, that cat’s banned again.

What I like about this

Is the way the Chargers have got to this point.

They have overcome adversity. A 2-3 start, a hot start by a division rival, losing key players to injury (J Williams, Hardwick), a beat down on a Sunday night heading into the bye. But they have fought through.

I also like who they have beaten. Not all winning streaks are created equal. Sure, two of those wins are against KC, and Cleveland is in there, but they have beat the Giants (in NY), Philly, Dallas (in Dallas) and now Cincinnati. Those are quality wins against quality opponents. None of those wins have been works of art, but they have found a way to win against other good teams.

Finally, what I also like is this gives the Chargers an inside track on getting a first round bye. Every team is beat up this time a year, but how much would a week off help Merriman’s foot, Burnett’s neck, all of the D-lines aches, Hardwick’s return, and probably the 50 other little nicks and bruises we don’t know about.

Now we can let JonnyDub's cat back in

And a short week coming up

The “banged up” body count will not be pretty tomorrow, it seems. The Titans never play the Chargers soft, so the trainers and coaches will earn their pay this week.

There a couple of reason why this feels great

First of all, in the dark days of the late 1990s and even in those couple of playoff years in the 1990s (where the Broncos, Cheifs and Raiders were all so tough), it was hard to ever imagine that our little surf city would pull off this sort streak of division titles. I’m so proud of the franchise right now, Super Bowl or no? (Though I still want a SB win).
Second, this is win streak is, well, fun. Some of the most fun I’ve hard in the regular season since 2006 when we won so many games. Oh, and we still have a shot at winning 13 which is an impressive win total and the 2nd most by the franchise. And, one more regular season win would give the Chargers a shot at the most wins ever in a single season.
Third, there are no “yeah, buts” going into the playoffs. We keep beating all the top teams on our schedule down the stretch. No one anywhere is going to underestimate this team going into the playoffs.

Agree 100%.

It’s even more impressive when you consider the dire straights our opponents have been in, and we have still won.

the second best game i've seen in person

only their ot win last year against peyton manning in the wild card round tops winning a division title minutes after a thrilling final second win in a well played game by both teams. i wish the bengals well. on to bigger and better things for the bolts!

by SoCalCMH on Dec 21, 2009 1:34 AM PST up reply actions

It's a really good sign

that we’re winning the close games against the good teams. 21-20 vs the Giants, 20-17 vs the Cowboys, 27-24 vs the Bengals.

All close, none pretty. But the fact that our guys can grind it out and pull out a W is a huge factor come playoff time.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

but I think when the Chargers were 2-3, the Broncos were 6-0. That means since that point the Chargers have gone 9-0 and the Broncos have gone 2-6. So much for having the easier 2nd half schedule.

Well, in fairness

the Chargers are better than the Broncos.

It's funny

How the Chargers sweep the Raiders every year, but it seems like the Broncos always lose one of their 2 games with the Silver and Black.

Three years in a row now

the Raiders have split with the Broncos, and twice in a row Oakland has won in Denver.

Even funnier

is that both wins in Denver, Jamarcus Russell has played very well. He had probably the best game of his career last year at Denver, as the Raiders blew out the Broncos.

Maybe the Broncos should trade for JaMarcus.

Titans vs Chargers

Some people are expecting a sweep on Tennessee, some think it’ll be an upset with Chris Johnson and Vince Young on their toes … Any score predictions?
