"I would beat Shawne’s head in right now," said Ochocinco yesterday, asked about his feud with the Chargers linebacker. "This is not in fun. This is not in fun. It’s personal, you know? It is what it is. I think he might be one of the only people I don’t really get along with. I wanna fight. I’m not sure how to get the fight on with him without him suing me.
SDUT - Ochocinco calls out Merriman
I can't tell if this is serious or not... I suspect it is a bit like the pre-fight posturing that goes on in boxing. I guess we'll find out on Sunday.

And at this point
that’s actually saying something.

I hope he said this before Chris Henry had his accident, that’s about all I have to say about that.

Chad fan here...
He’s pretty much trash talked every opponent he’s had this season.. Pretty sure it’s all done in fun. For instance he tried to get into it with the Kyle Orton of the Bears and Kyle simply begged off, so Chad tried to find a new target on the Bears that would play along with him
If I remember right, he and Shawne traded words through twitter and UStream broadcasts last year.. So I think it’s all pre-game hype.

The scary part is
someday Chad is going to start to believe every thing he says, but he’ll be an old man with bad knees by then, trying to start fights with all the young whippersnappers, just for the attention it brings. Child, please.

I would like to see Merriman go Ray Lewis on Johnson.
( out of ignorance, I refuse to refer to Chad Johnson as “Chad Ochocinco”). Chad is a great receiver, but really needs to be taken down a peg, or ten. I am really questioning whether or not he has ANY ounce of dignity left…
Juju, you have already blessed the Duck masses by diverting Terrelle Pryor to Columbus Ohio; and in the process granted us one magical Masoli who happens to be "sicker than E-Coli (I know from experience with E-Coli, Masoli must be pretty damn sick)". We are all mutually gracious for this blessing. However, in our time of dearest need, we request that one Terrelle Pryor succumb to your overwhelming collegiate football dictation skillz.

At least
Ochocinco is just a buffoon and not a criminal. I don’t appreciate his act, but as long as he sets the example that he can do his little act without hurting anyone else or breaking the law, I don’t mind calling him Ochocinco. Brandon Marshall on the other hand is a buffoon and an insult to men, Americans and the human race.
I also wonder if part of the reason he changed his name is because the Bengals are obsessed with Johnsons. They always seem to have 75 of them on their team. Calling him Ochocinco is just easier sometimes.

An American Tradition! Ochocinco, that’s funny.

He actually seemed to care about Chris Henry...
which might be the first time he has thought about someone else. This guy is a joke. Decent receiver, but he would probably be the 2nd or 3rd receiver on this team. VJ is in another class, Floyd is probably at the same level, and Nanee will be better in a few years. I hope they run a reverse with 85 and it goes at our 56. Bad foot or no, Lights Out will remind everyone how he got his nickname.

Chad is getting older
but I think that you are a little harsh when it comes to his ability on the football field.
by JeromeB on Dec 18, 2009 12:16 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I find a lot of people under-estimate him because he doesn’t have great size or great speed. Chad is a really, really good receiver. He reminds me a lot of Cris Carter actually.
Also, I don’t think Ocho has ever run a reverse/end-around. Those are reserved for players with unbelievably strength or speed.
Despite the fact that he seems to endlessly be begging for attention, Chad is not a bad guy. As a matter of fact, he one of the more charitable players in the league. I think he’s trying to make young fans by doing silly things (the name, the sombrero) and by staying technically savvy (twitter, ustream). I can’t fault him for marketing himself, because he never takes shots at his teammate and never seems to cause trouble to anyone but himself.

I thought the Sombrero fine
was ridiculous. $30,000 for putting on a hat on the sidelines (over by the bench), and he only had it on for a few seconds. If he were still in the endzone dancing around with a sombrero on that would be an NFL issue, but to me what he did should have been handled by the Bengals. Maybe the NFL should put out a list of what kind of hats are acceptable sideline apparel. If it were the official Sombrero of the NFL it probably would not have been a problem as it would have brought in revenue for the owners.
I think it was just the NFL wanting to make sure that players understand the product is the NFL as a whole and not the individual player.

It's gonna be kinda ugly
when he is fined for doing for “remembering” Chris Henry this weekend if he gets into the endzone.

As long as
He doesn’t use a prop, involve a member of his team or a member of the Charger’s players or staff he should be fine. If he wanted to pay tribute to the man, he could do so easily. It will be his choice if he wants to do something that is a tribute and also worth of a fine, just like most of his fine-able offenses are.

I don't think he'll do anything to draw a fine.
He might try to do something to remember CH, but if he does, it’ll be understated.
I’d like to see him do something like that on his next TD… next week against KC, in front of his own fans.

Rec'd.
This is exactly what I think of Chad Ochocinco. He’s kind of a buffoon, but it’s good for him: any player with more name recognition is either a starting QB, a much better player now, or a much better HOF candidate. And his shenanigans don’t hurt anybody, commit any crimes, or break the rules to competitive advantage. And he doesn’t do anything inappropriate at critical moments. He’s just a flamboyant loudmouth.
