Chargers Week 14 Injury Report

Since I think it's a little too wide for the home page, the entire injury report for both the Chargers and Cowboys is after the jump.  I'll warn you though, another defensive lineman is down for the Bolts.

There is good news though.  A certain defensive player that's a huge key to the Chargers defense is listed as "Doubtful" when it was thought that he'd be listed as "Out".  Who could it be?

Also, since it's probably gotten pushed off the first page again, don't forget to check out this week's Game Preview post.

I have to say

after missing a couple games early, I’m amazed at Travis Johnson’s ability to not only stay healthy, but play fairly well.

Yup

Very good trade.

While I'd like nothing more than for Weddle to play

everything seems to point to him sitting out and coming back next week.

So for the defensive line

We’ve got Castillo, Scott, Cesaire, Johnson, Martin, and Garay.

Well, I guess they can keep the rotation going.

I feel much better with Travis Johnson in the mix

I was a little worried when he was out early in the week. He and Scott (and formerly OG) have really stepped it up in the middle of that defensive line.

All things considered

That actually looks pretty good.

I'm gonna have to agree

If and that’s a big IF Merriman plays in the game we would be in a pretty good spot. Only 1 starter and a player in the defensive line rotation out doesn’t seem like too much to overcome.

I feel pretty confident that Merriman will play

Given that he hasn’t missed any practice time since Wednesday.

I think you guys are right

But didn’t he go threw this a couple of times this season where he practiced but once the game started the pain was too much Miami if I’m not mistaken

i think he...

only had limited participation in practice that week and still tried to go, if i remember correctly

Bill Johnston just tweeted
32 (Weddle), 61 (Hardwick) and 70 (Boone) didn’t practice. Don’t expect to see any of those play in Dallas. 56 (Merriman) practiced, but is questionable (50-50). HUGE game on Sun.

Who is Bill Johnston?

And that info is the same as the original post, is it not?

He's the Director of Public Relations for the Chargers

And while he pretty much summed up what was said already, he did add in not to expect Weddle to play at all so people shouldn’t get their hopes up.

Kevin Acee also tweeted that Weddle will be out.

It is kind of odd

That he’s listed as doubtful without even practicing that almost seems disingenuous. I can’t imagine that they’ll get fined for it though, but technically they could.

They have been saying

that there is a small, outside chance he could play. So technically they’re being consistent.

Oh, okay

When John puts these up they come from the official NFL source for injury reports, so no wonder the info is consistent.

Actually

They come from Bill.

There you go

I figured it was the same or basically the same source. Which is why I found the comment odd in the first place.

Boone

has been solid. Best of the off the street Dline crew from what Ive observed. Im wondering if the Chargers dont just let Merriman play 3rd downs this week.
I have been a critic of Lights but he does make people around him better; considering he commands double teams and such.

by AirNorval on Dec 11, 2009 2:27 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Are we not counting Scott as part of that crew since he was originally slotted to make the team and only failed to due to injury? Or do you actually think Boone has been better?

Boone

From what Ive seen he’s played better than OG, Scott, and Johnson.

by AirNorval on Dec 11, 2009 2:30 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

I would tend to agree

although I really think they are all pretty tightly bunched and all have had their good and bad games.

I think part of Boones strength is that he seems to be the only Jamal sized one of the bunch… or maybe the 70 just makes him look fat.

Absolutely

real interested in the Indy-Den and Min-Cinn games…

It's funny

Because I have reasons to like any of the outcomes of those two games (but of course I’m also pulling for my boy Brees to get a #1 seed).
