Chargers Roll with Mike Tolbert. Keep an eye out for Acee's very cool gift to Tolbert at the end of the video.

pretty awesome gift
That one’s hanging up somewhere in the Tolbert house right now
Well, his name is LT
A true MVP
You know he'd love to lift up that Lombardi Trophy
A touchdown machine
You know what I mean?
Put him in the redzone, TD guaranteed

I really didn’t like him last year…Best crow I’ve ever tasted.

Does tolbert fit
into the tailback rotation at some point? And I mean outside of the short yardage or garbage time role he fills now? Could he and maybe a sproles type back be our tailbacks of the future?

I’m still kindof nervous about that. He’s always been an RB. In college, he typically got about 65 carries a year (so 5-6 per games). There’s a lack of experience there, and there’s also the concerns of could he take the beating? Until you’ve done it, you really don’t know.
I’d like to think so, but there are so many things about him that worry be as a RB that I don’t think his role in the offense will ever be much more than starting FB who gets a handful of carries and a catch per game. Also, the less carries for Sproles the better.

I had no idea he was as fast as he is
Jezuz thats Brandon Jacobs speed minus 7 less inches (thats wat she said) and just 15 pounds!
Dude really is a bowling ball.

My concern with that
is the same concern I have with Jacobs. After a couple years of NFL pounding, Jacobs has lost a half-step and suddenly he’s just a big target to take down rather than a freight train.
The second Tolbert loses even a half-step, he’s going to have a lot less going for him than somebody like Sproles (who will still be really fast and really shifty). At least as a runner.

Good point, tailbacks do get their tail handed to them
Still if this guy starts getting more respect out of the backfield our passing game will get nuttier. Is that even possible? Gates ALL DAY.

you're going to get a short shelf life with any power back
They compared him to natrone in the video. Natrone is the poster boy for a power back who only had 3-4 good years in him.
But the thunder and lightning RB by comittee approach is not bad, and theoretically it is easy to find that a do everything back like LT, and its cheaper, and more injury proof.

Agreed
I’m okay with Tolbert getting 10 or so carries per game. I just don’t ever want to hear that he’s our “feature back”.

Something I find funny
is Acee takes a little while to give him the gift certificate at the end. He keeps gesturing like he’s about to, and then pulls it back, and Tolbert’s body language is like “Dude, gimme the envelope!”

That's funny
I always just stop it when Acee pulls out the certificate.
It’s funny to go back and watch the Chargers Roll episodes from early in the season. Acee is basically sitting up straight with his hands crossed. Now he’s lounging like he’s at home on the couch, and cracking jokes constantly. That’s part of the reason it’s getting better all the time.

I like Acee a lot.
Seems like he’d be a fun guy to watch the game with.

Did anyone notice that he called himself a FB?
When asked about the play that gives him the most charge, he said the ST hits because he’s a FB & likes to hit people.
Straight from the horse’s mouth.

Class move with the gift, KA.
And Mike seems like a class guy. Works hard, does more than required to earn a spot and then fights to keep it. Love that attitude. Congrats to you, Mike, and my sincere condolences on the loss of your grandmother to you and your family.
This is only the second Chargers Roll I’ve seen (Gates last week was the first). Gotta go back and watch them now. :) They are well done and provide nice insight on the players. Kudos to KA, the crew and the sponsors for putting them on.
Go Bolts on Sunday – let’s hand America’s Team their lunch! :)
