The Ultimate Tailgate...
As I sit at my apartment grading papers and patiently wait for my New York Giants parking pass to come in the mail, I cannot help but think of all the fun activities that await me in the parking lot of a sewer, if it were Next year it would be a really nice sewer. But that doesn't mean the smell of New Jersey will ruin my good time. I want to know what everyone thinks the Ultimate Tailgate food and Beer is. That is what I want to know! The best tailgate I did was Italy vs Ecuador in an International Friendly at the Meadow Lands. I am looking for some great Ideas! Here was the Menu...
Scallops wrapped in Bacon
Clams and melted Butter
Steak marinated in all sorts of goodness
Bubba Burgers
Chips and guacamole
the beer: Miller cans, bottles of Molson xxx (gotta love the Canadian in me) and Landshark
*this is the same for every Jimmy Buffett Concert!

ok ok ok...here we go
shrimp tostadas-4lbs of jumbo shrimp,2 lg tomatoes,2 lg cucumbers,1 stalk of cilantro,1 purple or white onion,1 lb fresh minced baby clams,1 regular sized bottle of ketchup, and one bottle of spicy clamato….chop up all veggies and put in large bowl, and i mean large….make sure cilantro is finely minced…add baby clams, the whole bottle of ketchup, and enough clamato to your satisfaction(I usually put a little bit more than half)…squeeze about 8 to 10 limes(the big ones,if not double the smaller ones)…boil shrimp with 2 table spoons of salt until done(make sure to clean shrimp..ie remove shell and head)…finally mix in shrimp add salt and pepper to liking and chill for about 30 minutes.Buy lots of tostadas and Dos Equis as well.
Accompany with Rib Eye steaks marinated in fresh orange juice, lemon juice, one shot of tequila, and 2 table spoons of soy sauce…make sure you do it the night before.usually 2 oranges,2 lemons and the liquids alike(it’s enough for four)if you get more just double it,triple, etc….also make some potato salad and baked beans with brown sugar and bacon.
To finish it off grill some bratwurst sausages and pile on the grilled onions and relish…also don’t forget to buy avocados and Tapatio hot sauce for the tostadas…enjoy my recipes.
IMPORTANT….DON’T FORGET THE DOS EQUIS OK….

Will do
Definitely.
Seriously though, why is Mexican food always covered in cilantro? That stuff is gross.

Kindof
then again, so does Jack Daniels……maybe I’m just crazy.
I like a dash of cilantro, but too often I’m given a mouthful.

Nah. It’s just genetic. A lot of people hate it. Here’s a story a dude wrote for NPR:

that's why it has to be finely minced,it's supposed to be an ingredient not an overpowering condiment.
it has to look like a small pile of salt.

I'm not even joking
the next time I’m in San Diego (which might be in January), I’ll buy the dos equis and we’re having a BBQ.

It's not even 9 a.m. and my mouth is watering like crazy for that
I’m definitely doing the steak marinade this week for dinner. That sounds soooo good. I don’t get the cilantro-hatred either, that’s like instant fresh flavor.

I used to live in a not-so-nice area
in an apartment building with a balcony. My balcony faced the apartment building next to us, which was completely rented out to this nice Mexican family. Every single night the men would be grilling the world’s best carne asada and the smell would waft into my living room. It was completely unfair.
Equally unfair was that they refused to share the carne with me or my roommate, but threw pieces to my dog every night.

It was just a friendly...
Actually It ended in a 1-1 tie. It was a great game. I did everything for that game. I melted the butter in a little pot for the clams. It was awesome. The Ecuadorian fans were cool too. We played Ecuadorians v Italians in the parking lot. Fake Jerseys were sold CHEAP! And everyone shared everything. They Roasted a Pig in a Shopping Cart! I hope Giants fans are that cool…

Tough to go wrong with beer brats
grill them for a couple minutes to get a little char on the sides, then boil in a pot of beer with onions and jalapenos/chiles (don’t breathe in the vapors from that, it’ll knock you out). The nice thing is you can just keep them simmering like that until you’re ready to eat them or as more people come to your tailgate. Serve on a bun with the onion/pepper mix, add sauerkraut if you’re into it. Easy and great.

All these tailgate parties..
and no invites to fellow BFTBers who will be at the game (like myself)? That is just cruel! :)
Do or do not. There is no try.

My friend and I made this rotiserrie rig. We take it campin, ball games, where ever. I like to throw a leg of lamb on it. Season with fresh ground cumin, coriander, salt and pepper. I like to cook mine until it hits an internal temp of about 140-145. Let it sit for 20 min. Serve with…beer.
by BORTZ on Nov 4, 2009 1:52 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
sounds good but I am not a fan of lamb...it tastes like flavorless meat on a stick...sorry dog I think I'm just used to beef pork and seafood.don't get me wrong,we cook with lamb in our food but I don't fucks with it.

It's 3:40am
here in the dirty, and reading this has made me so hungry that I am about to start gnawing on my leg. Gorditoe my family has marinated thin cut ribeyes the nite before charger games for many years about the same way you marinate yours. We grill them and make steak sandwiches with all the fixings and fresh guacamole and chips on the side! Did I say I was hungry? Never under estimate the power of a good pot of chili for game days also. Still hungry!

Chili
The only thing that scares me about Chili is having to take a dump at Giants Stadium…..eww.
