Injury Report: Week 12
First, some news about the possible blackout. The Chargers have been granted another 24 hours, and now have until 1pm on Saturday, to sell the remaining 1,350 tickets. Considering the Chargers have sold more than 2,000 tickets in the last 24 hours, I think there's now a very good chance of this game not being blacked out in San Diego.
Now, onto the injury report.

Is Dwayne Bowe still out?
He usually has good games against us.

Man, Nick.
For the longest time we kept hearing about how he was ahead of schedule, now his return keeps getting pushed further and further back.

I think it had something to do with
The Broncos collapse rather then rush him back since things were looking up they wanted to wait and make sure he was 100%.

My understanding is
That since you can’t really rotate in and out a a Center, they want to be absolutely sure that he can both start and finish a game. They don’t want him hobbling or running out of gas in the 4th quarter when they need him most, so they are being real cautious before giving him a start.

Also
I doubt this game gets blacked out, don’t we have to get under 1000 for the local media to buy out the tickets?

CBS 2 Los Angeles has moved off the Chargers game
That may point to it being officially a blackout; I’ll be honest I don’t completely understand the blackout rules and their relationship to Los Angeles.

TV guides have CBS 2 showing the Houston-Indy game.

A couple weeks ago
Jim Steeg talked about the Los Angeles market and how he has a relationship with the CBS affiliate. They have been real good about helping the Chargers promote the team in LA and have worked to have the games televised there even if some of the ratings projections saw better games elsewhere. The reason it came up is that the Philly game was on Fox and the LA Fox affiliate didn’t have that sort of relationship, so they dumped the Chargers for something else (I think it was a Minnesota game). In this case, I’m going to assume that CBS 2 wants to be able to promote their NFL game during tomorrows broadcast and wants some certainty as to what game it is, so they dumped the Chargers in lieu of waiting to see what happens with the ticket sales. Now, during their Florida-Florida State broadcast on Saturday, they can hype Houston-Indy.

Blackout rules
Each team has a primary and secondary market. The Los Angeles area is considered a secondary market. Secondary markets fall under blackout rules I believe. There is also something about broadcast range. If the station’s broadcast range comes in within a certain distance from the game, then it must be subject to the blackout. The “logic” (if you can call it that) is that certain people who would get CBS 2 are considered within driving distance of Qualcomm and therefore could have reasonably attended the game so therefore have to be subject to the blackout just like those who would get KFMB CBS.

Yes.
Any stations whose broadcast signal reaches within 75 miles of the stadium gets blacked out. CBS 2 serves Orange County, which has areas that are within 75 miles of the stadium. Therefore, it gets blacked out from showing Charger games, and any area that relies on CBS 2 gets blacked out as well. Meaning all Southern California from Ventura south and about Palm Springs west gets blacked out.

He usually plays
He just doesn’t practice much. He played last week against the Broncos for example. And the Eagles game. And the Giants game. And the Raiders game. And the Chiefs. And.. I don’t really feel like looking at the gamebooks before that.

He missed the first 3-4 games and that’s it.

I think it was a low risk high reward situation.
If he doesn’t pan out, you’ve lost a 6th round pick, which is essentially nothing. If he does resurrect his career, all you’ve given up is a 5th rounder and you’ve gotten a decent player in return.

Anyone else really interested in the Sunday Night game?
I want to see Dennis Dixon. I wonder if the Steelers see him as a possible long-term replacement for Roethlisberger, or if they’d like to move him for a draft pick or two.

I’m interested, because I like Dixon, but I think he’s auditioning for a job somewhere else.
