[Philip Rivers'] raw numbers pale in comparison to Donovan McNabb's, but Rivers went 20-of-25 against the pass defense that DVOA believes to be the best in football. Philadelphia took away Vincent Jackson, who only had one catch for 10 yards, so Rivers adapted: Antonio Gates caught seven passes for 78 yards, while his touchdowns were thrown to Legedu Naanee (on a blown coverage by Asante Samuel, who had a phantom safety behind him) and fullback Mike Tolbert.

Nice to see Phil get some credit from FO.

Audibles was painful this week. Gems like these:
Bill Barnwell: Another example of the establishment-clause-run-amuck is Brian Billick referencing LaDainian Tomlinson saying that he needs “20-25 carries to establish his rhythm”. So LT is only in rhythm late in the fourth quarter of games?
Tom Gower: Excellent two handed shove by Malcom Floyd there on Sheldon Brown to give himself position for the catch and set up the Chargers 1&G inside the 5.

Reading those guys
they sound like they’re mostly fans of the big name teams—Pats, Steelers, Eagles, Cowboys, etc.

I think they are fans of the Patriots, Colts, Eagles and I want to say one of them is a Seahawks fan.

There's more diversity that that
I think Barnwell grew up a Giants fan. But, that man is a football junky and follows every team. Tom Gower is a Tennessee Titans fan. Will Carroll is an Indianapolis Colts fan. Aaron Schatz is a Patriots fan. Mike Tanier is an Eagles fan. Doug Farrar is a (frustrated) Seahawks fan. David Gardner is a Buccaneers fan. Mike Kurtz is a Steelers fan. Ned Macey is a Colts fan. Sean McCormick is a New York Jets fan. Vince Verhei is a Seahawks fan. Rob Weintraub is a Cincinnati Bengals fan. Bill Moore is a Patriots fan. Benjy Rose is a New York Jets fan.
A lot of writers have moved on. At least a couple were Steelers fans. One was a Lions fan. I think there was at least 1 or two more Patriots fans. A Texans fan. Another Buccaneers fan. And maybe another Giants fan.

I was thinking of Macey, Schatz, Tanier and Farrar. I don’t know how I forgot about Barnwell. I couldn’t tell you what Gower, Gardner, Kurtz, McCormick, Weintraub, Moore or Rose do for the site.

Gardner and Kurtz are editors. Kurtz also does Scramble For the Ball with Tom Gower. Verhei writes Any Given Sunday. Will Carroll writes the Black and Blue Report. Bill Moore is in charge of the game charting project. Weintraub does college football stuff. I too don’t know what the rest of them do, but every one of them contributes to Audibles at the Line, which is what we are talking about here.
