Philadelphia Eagles at San Diego Chargers highlights.
That first Eagles TD was entirely Cason's fault. He left Maclin wide open to go cover the RB, and nearly collided with Weddle when he got there. I consider that a blown assignment by #20.

What do we think of Josh?
While I certainly appreciate an enthusiastic Charger TD call, I do find Josh borderline obnoxious. And I’m sure opposing fans have come to hate him. (But who cares what they think, right?)
The few times I’ve listened to the radio broadcasts, I’ve found myself shaking my head with confusion over what the heck is going on. Lewin seems to broadcast his excitement first, the play second. Am I wrong??

I like Josh a lot. Listening to the radio broadcasts of other games, I always feel there’s too much conversation/opinion and not nearly enough emphasis on the game that’s going on. That doesn’t happen with Lewin and I rather like his enthusiasm. Maybe it’s because for a while there he was announcing my Madden games.

Fair enough
I bow to those who know him better and listen to him more. (He does Texas Ranger baseball as well, doesn’t he?) There’s obviously nothing wrong with being a homer in the NFL, so homer on, Josh!

I agree with you John.
Josh Lewin is great. MUCH better than previous PBP guys the Chargers have had. I mean, I love Uncle Teddy for baseball, but he’s not good at football. And Hacksaw?

Oh yeah
HUGE upgrade. Lewin’s my favorite guy for football and those guys were just awful. I think even DSC used to complain about the lack of score updates from them.
Vasgersian still holds a place in my heart for baseball PBP. There’s something to be said for the right amount of enthusiasm and homerism.

You'll just never know the score of the game.
But you’ll probably be entertained.

Vasgersian and Grant were pretty damn good

He has his moments. The little tree/hammer thing he started bringing out all the time got old fast though.

I also agree
But I liked Ted. Baseball suits him better, though.
I love Bauer’s commentary. Its a pleasure listening to the games. Thank God for Sirius!
DVR?

The problem is that the radio is ahead of the TV.
So unless you have a DVR radio, it’s just not going to work.

love Josh
maybe its just his voice, I dont know, but whatever it is I think hes a great annoucner and love listening to him

My only gripe with Lewin is that it weirds me out how much he looks like a miniature Forrest Gump.
Still, I love his commentary and attitude behind the mic. I think I read TTG from Gaslamp Ball say that his voice, and i quote, “grates me like none other.” I think it’s a hate it or love it deal with Josh Lewin. Put me with the latter.

Agreed on both points
Standing next to him almost killed it for me. All I can think of when I hear him now is how he’s like 4 feet tall. I guess I shouldn’t talk though….

re CAson's blown assignment
Strikes me that’s the kind of play we* did alot in the first few games – the slightly positive take on it is that he’s eager to impress and tries to do to much rather than do his own job well and trust everyone else to do theirs. Or maybe he was a bit too hungry for some glory (which isn’t that far off the first take anyway).
(* In Australia we tend to refer to the team’s we support as ‘we’ – seems like you don’t do that so much over your way.)

Oh we often refer to the team as "we" and "us".
So you’re not sounding weird.
by Zach (maestro876) on Nov 16, 2009 7:06 PM PST up reply actions
Yup
happens all the time. I try to avoid it myself in the posts just to try to keep an air of professionalism, but go right ahead.
I think you’re right and I also think it may be part of the reason Cason was initially benched. It’s entirely possible that he tries to make plays by himself without trusting his teammates and creates more problems. It would make a lot of sense.

The American way
is to refer to the team as “we” when they’re playing well and “the Chargers” or “them” when they’re playing poorly.
You can also do it Leitner style with “my Chargers” and “your Chargers.”
