What happened to Craig "Buster" Davis?
Saints and LSU fan here. Just wondering what happened to this former Tiger, Craig Buster Davis. I thought he'd be pretty good in the NFL but it looks like injuries got him. Can anyone update as to whether he's still with the Chargers and whether he's going to play this year?
This guy was a phenomenal athlete from the New Orleans area. He was a standup guy at LSU and I hope he succeeds in the NFL. We Louisianians like to see our Tigers do well...except against the Saints... Hey, everyone's gotta have an off day at some point, right?
ps - thanks for Drew Brees! ;)

He has been dealing with nagging injuries since we drafted him.
He is still on the team, but I do not believe he is on the active roster right now. He is still very young, and may find a way to turn things around; but from the looks of it…That will not occur this season

Not so fast.
Davis’s primary problem this year is that he hasn’t found a way to get active. Toomany receivers, and they’re all ahead of him. But with Chambers playing poorly, and multiple sources predicting less time for him, Davis has a decent chance of finding himself on the active roster sometime in the next few week.

I think
He has an excellent chance of being the 3rd or 4th receiver in 2010. I feel that, because of his young age, they may be trying to give him some consistent time on the practice field and allowing his body to mature.
Buster’s still a stand-up guy with a ton of potential. He just came out of college too early to succeed in the NFL.

I think that he's got a great chance of contributing next year
especially if he’s learned how to stay healthy. Chambers and Osgood will both be gone, leaving us with just Jackson, Floyd, Nannee, and Davis.

Thanks for the insight!
Definitely cheering for Buster to have a breakout season next year then. Happy he’s still with the team.
I have to admit that I don’t see Chambers as a solid #1. Rivers is a good enough qb that he makes up for it. But I tend to think that you guys will be even better off with some subtractions. Change can be bad, but I think it will help the Chargers.
This is off topic, but I have to admit that it pains me to see LaDanian having a rough year and taking criticism. But he really does look over the hill. Another good guy on y’all’s team. I was surprised that San Diego didn’t try to execute a sign and trade to the Saints when Brees attempted to recruit LaDanian. I mean, you would have been better off and I think we’d have been sunk by his high salary and low productivity. But who knows, he could have been energized, too.

Eh, it could've been, perhaps.
But what would that have engendered? Would you guys have sent Bush for him? That would’ve left us with Reggie Bush and… well, at the time we still had Gartrell Johnson…
That would’ve been very cool, now that I think about it. But trading LT would be a horrific move. Ask Cowboys fans how they felt seeing Emmitt Smith as a Cardinal.

Can we PLEASE draft Ali Villanueva of Army this year??? I'd mortgage a kidney for a tackle/wideout hybrid.

Now that Chris Chambers has been released by the Chargers
You may see Buster Davis elevated to the active roster against the Giants this week. If he doesn’t become more visible for the second half of 2009, look for him in 2010 as possibly a #3 slot man, or our #4.

Maybe not this week, but I’d be surprised if he doesn’t get some playing time soon.
