Your Questions About the Chiefs

We've had a pretty good thread over at AP with John answering anything and everything Chargers related. If you have any questions about the Chiefs ask away! I'm not the one that usually does this, but it's Wednesday afternoon and someone better get something going, so I'll do my best.

My question for you all is do you take the Chiefs as a serious threat this week? Do you see Kansas City as a team on the rise or will our struggles continue?

Ask away and feel free to head over to Arrowhead Pride and give your thoughts on your team.

What teams DE's haven't been outperforming ours?

If only by a small margin

They are 30th in the league in Adj. Line Yards (description here) whereas the Chargers are 32nd.

Chiefs are 17th in the league at stopping power runs (3rd and 4th down runs needing 2 yards or less)(Chargers 27th). 26th in the league at stopping runs of 10+ yards (Chargers are 4th! Hooray). 29th in the league at stopping RBs for a loss (Chargers are 24th). The breakdown seems to be that they are awful on runs to the left and average on runs to the right (Chargers are best in the league at stopping runs to right tackle and 16th to left guard, but everywhere else they are awful).

They are 28th in the league in adjusted sack rate and the Chargers are 29th.

If you go by the numbers, our defense hasn’t made much progress. In game averages we’re 24th in points allowed, 29th in total yards allowed, 25th in passing yards, and 25th in rushing yards. Sounds pretty bad, right?

The Cowboys and Redskins games, especially, showed that our D is still young and vulnerable to giving up big plays. Austin’s numbers including his game winning catch in OT were helped out by some missed tackles and a rookie corner (Washington) making rookie mistakes. Clinton Portis’s longest run was also the product of missed tackles.

On the positive side we are starting to get more pressure on the QB and already have 9 sacks compared to 10 all of last season. Dorsey is starting to live up to his hype as well.

Tamba Hali

has been the real benefit of going with the 3-4 so far. Most people following the transition thought that he was going to be one of the first roster casualties this training camp because he always seemed like he was too slow at DE to get to the QB.

But the move to 3-4 LB has seemed to cure any problems he had before. He’s playing as well as any player on the team and (to our surprise) several opposing coaches have admitted to game planning against him. With Dorsey improving I would expect Hali’s sack total to rise at a steady rate.

OK what is the deal with LJ?

Do you love him again? Hate him again?

Is he gonna run all over us?

by Trendsearcher on Oct 21, 2009 12:09 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

IMO

And I’m no Chiefs fan.

LJ is an older back with no tread left on those tires. Edwards ran him to RB death and the Chiefs are paying him huge money and don’t have anyone who is a whole lot better. Having to rebuild the OL a couple of years ago didn’t help either.

Plus I had a sense that AP fans were not happy with LJ outside the lines

I was wondering if all that club house and off the field stuff has blown over.

Or if much of that angst was driven by LJs injuries.

by Trendsearcher on Oct 21, 2009 12:38 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Off the field issues have blown over but

Lj is done he makes way too many cuts. Unfortunately I think the days of the AFC West having the two top back is way over (LT and LJ)

If you count “Denver RB” as the third. Of course, "he"’s still going.

Going in to the season LJ seemed to have his shit together, but then we have thought that several times before being let down. I was a big LJ supporter, believing that he still had gas in the tank after being out for awhile last season, but he just hasn’t shown it.

His ability to hit an open hole has diminished and most of his carries look like he is just falling forward. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate the guy, but he was overused and abused by Herm and with our poor (that’s being nice) offensive line he isn’t getting much help.

On a side note, Goff is out for us this weekend. Most Chiefs fans are excited about that.

I'd be worried about OLine issues

Haley never got any good OL play in Arizona until Whisenhunt and Grimm came to town. Not sure if that was on him, his OL coaches or the previous HC, but I’d still be worried.

Wisdom can not be cultivated through ignorance of information.

by Wonko on Oct 21, 2009 1:13 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Oh trust me, we are.

It’s a big reason we were okay with seeing Tony go for a number two. Pioli is starting to pile up the draft picks New England style so we’ll see if we can get at least a couple high pick linemen out of it and hopefully someone will teach them what to do.

Albert seems to have regressed so far this season, but it could be from not playing in a gimmick offense or from adjusting to playing at a lighter weight, we shall see.

by JComp11 on Oct 21, 2009 1:18 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I wouldn’t be too worried about LJ. Haley only seems to run him up the middle for about 1.5 yards a carry. I’d rather see him go off tackle a bit or even sweep to the outside.

I’d be more concerned with Jamaal Charles if he’s featured a bit more in the offense. He is a poor man’s Darren Sproles, for lack of a better term. Quick guy, good as a receiving threat, but he coughs up the ball a bit too much.

LJ doesn’t have the O-line to open the holes for him. He’s a downhill runner who has the most success when he makes it into the secondary a bit.

by scottbwalters on Oct 21, 2009 4:43 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Charles is definitely a threat

But he’s also been more of a supplemental guy. He was never a big threat at UT, where he was second fiddle to Vince Young. The Chiefs probably use him right (the same way he was a Texas) a change up back that might get a big play now and again.

You're going to find that 90% of Chiefs fans think he's done

but the truth is that we live and die by him still.

In our last 2 games he’s gotten 44 carries, and we were the better team in both of those games. That’s not a coincidence.

His ypc and overall yardage don’t tell the entire story because of all the negative plays he’s forced in to. At one point in the Cowboys game he had over 80 yards rushing. Thanks to fumble at the end of a 20 yard run eventually giving credit to a lineman for the run and a plethora of negative plays he ended up at 37 yards on 21 carries. If he were really doing that badly you would expect us to stop giving him the ball.

If he were really doing that badly you would expect us to stop giving him the ball.

Unless there is no other option.

by JComp11 on Oct 21, 2009 10:31 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

We've got 3 guys behind him

that can all get negative yards if we give them the opportunity. Haley is actually very high on Savage and Battle, but he’s even higher on LJ.

by JayrodT on Oct 21, 2009 10:53 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Okay so what I should have said was unless there are no BETTER options. Haley might be high on Savage and Battle because of their potential.

Here's a bunch

How do you expect the defensive line to play without Tyler?

Do you think your secondary is equipped to defend Vincent Jackson (6’5"), Malcom Floyd (6’5") and Antonio Gates (6’4")?

What’s the early feelings from KC fans regarding Haley? Is it still a lovefest?

Might be worth pointing out

KC is 6th in the league against #1 WRs, 29th against #2 WRs and 20th vs TEs.

Interesting stats that I hadn’t seen. Miles Austin was probably considered a #2 in that game so it may be a little off, but they seem about right. With Flowers in the game the #1’s have a tough time doing much.

by JComp11 on Oct 21, 2009 1:16 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not sure

But I would guess Austin was considered an “Other WR” and Chiefs are 17th in the league at defending those. I only say that because he wasn’t a starter at that point, but FO can sometimes decide the #2 WR is simply the 2nd best WR on the team instead of the 2nd best starting WR on the team.

Wisdom can not be cultivated through ignorance of information.

by Wonko on Oct 21, 2009 2:32 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Roy Williams was out for the Cowboys-Chiefs game

So Crayton was the #1 WR, and Austin was the #2 WR in the game. However both of the big plays by Miles Austin were against our #3, and #4 CBs: Maurice Leggett, and Donald Washington. Both of the Brandons (Flowers, and Carr) have done a great job this year.

If the San Diego Chargers want to pass well against the Kansas City Chiefs defense. They are best served at throwing against any DB with the first name of Brandon.

by ChiefsFan90s on Oct 21, 2009 5:32 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Miles Austin

was almost shut down when covered by our #2 corner Brandon Carr, but lit up our (at the time) nickel corner Maurice Leggett for the bulk of his receiving yards. And 90% of those receiving yards were a failure to wrap up rather than allowing him a deep route.

by JayrodT on Oct 21, 2009 10:18 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes, you are right. I think I mentioned the poor tackling somewhere on here. The only good play (that I can remember) against Carr was the INT Carr had and Miles ripped away from him.

IMO, Tyler isn’t going to be missed. He was super strong during the combine and looked like “that guy” that could take up blockers in the middle, but he hasn’t shown to be that great. He didn’t do bad for the Chiefs, but as a back up NT it wasn’t like he was doing all that much anyway. A fifth rounder is a good pick for him.

I’m pretty positive on our young corners. We have trouble stopping passes across the middle because our LB’s are pretty bad in pass coverage, so Gates could have a field day. Haley just brought in a consultant to help out with some of the poor technique, which resulted in those huge plays I was talking about earlier.

I’d say it’s probably 60-40 in Haley’s favor. He has won some fans with his hard ass approach to everything, and others feel like he’s going to alienate his players with the lack of immediate results. I point to former players, like Fitzgerald, and their positive comments on what Haley did for them and for their careers by being that constant hard ass.

by JComp11 on Oct 21, 2009 1:13 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Defensive line

probably won’t miss him too much. Ron Edwards is streaky but when on he plays at a much higher level than Tyler has for us.

I like our secondary’s chances. On passing downs expect Derrick Johnson out there as he is our best cover LB. Flowers may be small but his technique has been almost flawless. And Brandon Carr is our version of Cromartie..has the physical tools to line up with any receiver in the NFL, he just doesn’t hit as many homeruns as Cromartie.

I also wouldn’t be too surprised if you see some elaborate coverages by our safeties in an effort to negate any physical mismatches.

Ha, I wish we did. Ron Edwards is pretty much all we have now that Tank’s gone. Some suggest we’ll be looking at Suh out of Nebraska, but there could be a riot if we go with another d linemen with the first pick for the third straight year.

How’s Tyson Jackson working out? A lot of people were picking him to go to the Chargers until the Chiefs suddenly got interested.

Another hot topic among Chiefs fans. Jackson hasn’t done much yet this season, but d linemen take a few seasons to adjust and even then don’t have great stats. People were down on Dorsey after last season, but he has looked like a beast so far. I’m confident Jackson will make the necessary adjustments and be a great pick.

by JComp11 on Oct 21, 2009 1:21 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

He's looking like a 1st year 3-4 DE

Which isn’t saying much. But he’s not getting pushed around anymore, which I take as a good sign.

by JayrodT on Oct 21, 2009 10:29 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Technically

Hali is now a LB right? So really that’s not quite the case. I would have no problem spending top picks on DL, especially if the team was switching schemes. It’s hard to find those guys in later rounds whereas DBs, WRs, TEs and RBs can be found later at a somewhat better return rate. My only problem with it would be if there was a better OT available at the same spot and I had a big whole there since those guys are also hard to find in later rounds. Passing on one of the top DTs in this draft when you have an issue there would be a big mistake in my opinion and that goes for every team in top of the first round, not just the Chiefs.

Wisdom can not be cultivated through ignorance of information.

by Wonko on Oct 21, 2009 2:29 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes Hali is a LB and...

…While having an actual NT like B.J. Raji (I’m assuming that is who you are talking about.) would have been great. The Chiefs had way too many problems; that they could have gone a lot of different ways. Also, Pioli/Haley are not going for the “Talented 53” like Peterson/Edwards tried, but instead the “Right 53” like Belichick does in New England. Apparently Pioli/Haley thought that DE Tyson Jackson fit the best in the 3-4 defense; so they took him. Rather it was the right move, or not is yet to be determined, but the pick was understandable when you look at the personalties of Pioli/Haley, and the type of team they are trying to create.

by ChiefsFan90s on Oct 21, 2009 5:44 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Actually

I was talking about getting Suh or McCoy in the 2010 draft. The upcoming draft is all about the DL and it’d be a mistake to bypass one just because of what was picked in the last 3 drafts.

by JComp11 on Oct 21, 2009 10:35 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Jackson and Dorsey would be the last two. Hali is in his 4th season as Bowe was the in between pick in the 1st round.

by JComp11 on Oct 21, 2009 7:09 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

No.

Ron Edwards is not even a NT. He is a DT who is playing out of his position. While he has done better than expected; we could do way better. He is more of a backup NT/DT that would be good in a rotation, but not necessarily who you would want as your starter.

I'm not surprised

Growing up a Charger fan, I don’t see how anyone could ever look at the team going to Kansas City and not start to think we are boned. Bad shit happens in KC. There’ll probably be sleet and somehow Ryan Leaf will be back at QB and Tamerick Vanover will return a kickoff for a touchdown and Derrick Thomas will light it up. Okay, so all of those are pretty unlikely (or really, really unlikely), but you get my point. KC = bad place to go.

They always, always seem to give us a really hard game.

No matter if they suck. Like last year, they set a record (I think) for fewest sacks in a season, but over half the ones they did have were against us. They came within a botched extra point and a fumbled onside kick of sweeping us last year.

Kansas City is no fun and I hate playing there. Plus we’ve won two games in a row in Arrowhead, and I really feel like we’re pushing our luck in that regard, no matter how bad they are.

I don't know if im buying into the fact of arrowhead mystique right now

I do admit that we got lucky last year but this year at arrowhead, they’ve lost every game there so far, 2 to DAL and OAK, the other was NYG so i didn’t really think they would pull that out, but I expect this team to be playing with their playoff life on the line.

We lose this weekend playoffs are gone.

I get what you're saying.

I just don’t trust this team. I trust one player, and that’s Philip Rivers. Maybe Gates and Jackson too.

Unfortunately I don’t trust the defense to hold a lead, and I don’t trust the offensive line to keep Philip safe.

This one is a toss-up to me. But I’m cool. After this last week, I’m done pining for a championship, at least this season. I’m just going to enjoy watching football.

We're boned.

When it does rear its head....

it is usually going to be for a division game. I will expect the fans to be out in great number because:

1. we finally won, and winning is fun – maybe we can win two? Wouldn’t you like to be there for that?
2. It’s a division rival. This isn’t the Cleveland Steamers coming to town… it’s the dag blang Chargers.

Gone are the days when home games were a lock 90% of the time. It will be nice when those days return.

by Ochophosphate on Oct 22, 2009 12:24 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Just a few quickies...

Chiefs O-line is horrendous therefore you can’t fully judge how good or bad LJ is at his age. He gets tackled at or before he reaches scrimmage frequently. Now this could mean he is getting there slow, but thats not always the case. Theres also criticism on how he falls down so fast, so thats on him. The O-line gets pretty goofy for LJ to run and also lets Cassel get hurried all game.

Cassel is a good QB, but hard to evaluate when given such a short time to throw with the O-line issues. He also has the problem of holding on the ball too long.

If you think Miles Austin is a star, think again. There are a few Chiefs on defense that cannot tackle if their life depended on it that game. So that has been a huge issue on defense.

We know you love your punter, but we love our Colquitt too. We also drafted Mr. Irrelevant who is 10/11 on field goals (the miss was block and wasn’t his fault). For a rookie and the last pick, he’s been amazing. Our kickers are definitely a bright spot for the Chiefs.

LJ is done.

All LJ is good for is taking up around $7.5million of salary cap space, taking snaps away from RB Jamaal Charles, and diving for 1-2 yards (99.9% of the time.).

IMO

This is going to be a GREAT game.

Last season, in 2 games, the Chiefs lost by 1 point in each game (as someone pointed out, KC was a botched kick and a fumbled onside kick away from sweeping SD last season)

Now, as a Chiefs fan, I have to pull for KC. But in all honesty, idk if it can happen. Alot of this is because of a couple of reasons. 1. The only SD game I have watched was on MNF against Denver. They looked great, and they looked terrible, at different points in the game. Some of the OL not protecting Rivers reminds me of KC’s OL and Cassel. Of course, I think its alot worse for Cassel, but Rivers is doing alot of moving in the backfield. And damnit..I need Rivers to perform. Hes on my fantasy team :-X

What REALLY surprises me about SD defense is..well..everything. SD defense has always been a FORCE until last season when Merriman was hurt. I expected to see alot of that return with Merriman. i’m not sure if he had a sack (i dont think he did) but Merriman didnt seem to be a factor against Denver at all. Maybe this is because Denvers OL is just that good (it looked like Ryan Clady was handling Merriman pretty well on his own) or if Merriman just had a 1st game back slump, but I hope he doesnt return to form against KC.

1 thing that scares me..is Vince Jackson. And as long as Brandon Flowers is our #1 CB, I will always be scared of that matchup. I think Flowers is a very good 2nd year CB and could blossom into a probowler, BUT..the guy is 5’10 on a good day. I think hes listed at 5’9. Jackson is 6’5. Thats a huge height difference and I’m worried that Rivers will float them into Jackson all day. I hope Flowers can make up for his lack of size against a monster. An 8 inch difference? Thats huge.

I want the Chiefs to win (obviously) but at the same time, I want SD to have the chance to knock Denver out of the division lead. I hate the Broncos. HATE the Broncos. I hope the Chargers win the rest of their games this season, just not against KC :-)

So was LSU a fluke?

JR is consistently terrible in Oakland
Buster Davis is a non-factor for the Chargers

A bright spot for LSU was Dwayne Bowe. He’s had good results with KC. Now it seems like Bowe is in the dog house with the team. What gives?

Is it his attitude?
Is he messing up in the games?

What is really going on with Bowe?

by Trendsearcher on Oct 21, 2009 5:47 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I would say hes out of the dog house now

hes been producing but is still having some drops. Haley stays on his rear though he ripped into him for not staying in bounds last week at the end of the game. After the game though you see Bowe and Haley hugging I think its going to be like Fitz was with Haley tough love.

We also have Glen Dorsey and Tyson Jackson, both first rounders from LSU. Just added a LSU nose tackle to the practice squard yesterday, as a matter of fact.

As it’s awful early to make judgements on either guy, Dorsey has started playing pretty damn well. Jackson has a ways to go, but he missed part of camp and like I said, is at a position that takes time to adjust.

Interesting.

Us Chargers have a pesky habit of drafting LSU players WAY to high.
2007-"Bust"er Davis-1st round
2008-Hester-traded away a bunch of picks and drafted much too high
2009-Byrd-in a hospital when we drafted him…

I warn you, once you begin drafting LSU players too high, it is a vicious addiction. Personally, I thought you took Tyson Jackson too high

We had (assuming it is fixed) a huge problem with the defensive line. I wasn’t a huge fan as we also need an impact linebacker, but according to reports we tried to trade down but couldn’t. If Jackson lives up to his billing like Dorsey has started to I don’t think it was too high at all.

by JComp11 on Oct 21, 2009 7:49 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I understand the need factor...

But Jackson still went to high, I would have wanted my team (in this scenario, KC) to trade down a few spots and pick up some other draft picks to bolster my team…

A much needed bye week; and two whole weeks to focus the inner hatred of UW even moreso than normal.

I mentioned that we TRIED to trade down and no one wanted the pick…..

I am sorry for missing that somewhere along the way...

I’m not sure where exactly, But I missed it.

Did I mention that you should have traded down?

Don't forget our center

Rudy Niswanger. He’s also out of LSU, and we just signed Favorite to our practice squad. If he ever saw the field we could have an all LSU defensive line.

by JayrodT on Oct 21, 2009 10:34 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yep, mentioned Favorite. Forgot about Niswanger though. LSU has had some pretty good success in the NFL lately.

by JComp11 on Oct 21, 2009 10:36 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I thought the point of this was that the LSU guys are overrated.

Actually my theory on this (and it goes for USC as well) is that the team is full of a lot of top talent. Or at least top talent compared to a lot of other colleges. So much so that if the opposing teams focus on a couple of guys, there is still going to be somebody left to make plays. So, they van make a lot of plays and thus win a lot of games. However, because no one player draws the focus, their flaws are less likely to be exposed, so it becomes difficult to get a complete scouting report. Teams see the skills that these players showed off in college and draft a lot of these players to the NFL, but the NFL is tougher and the flaws that weren’t seen get exposed. JaMarcus Russell’s accuracy issues weren’t exposed because the focus was on the number of talented backs he had (like Hester and Addai, plus others who were good college players, but not pro-caliber) and he also had great receivers (I think about 6 were drafted in a 3 year span or something like that). And, of course, Dorsey, Jackson, Spears, etc. all fed off of each other. That’s not to say that none of these players will ever plan out, just that it’s hard for teams to isolate which players will be great NFL players, which players will be good, which will be okay and which don’t cut the mustard. So, you end up with a lot of busts or at the very least guys that don’t meet expectations. But, every once in a while you hit with a Dwayne Bowe, a Lofa Tatupu, a Joseph Addai, a LaRon Landry or even a Devery Henderson.

Sorry that was sarcasm. Usually any comment with “Niswanger” and “good” in it are sarcastic.

As far as who will pan out

It seems like KC was uniquely fortunate, so far it is only Bowe.

by Trendsearcher on Oct 22, 2009 9:38 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I totally agree.

Mostly because I hate USC, But your theory actually foes make sense,

Therefore, I sentence you to a severe Rec’cing

Reports of Bowe in the doghouse

Earlier in the season, the reports of Bowe being in the doghouse were waaaaay overblown. Haley expects things from certain players and Bowe was not tapping into his potential. I saw it more of throwing him in 3rd string more as a motivational thing and sending Bowe a message that he still needs to work hard to remain on the 1st team. You know that saying where if the coach grills you and is constantly on your butt, it just means he sees something special in you and wants you to develop it? I looked at it that way.

Bowe definitely bought into it as he seems more driven with Haley on his ass. But like mentioned earlier, Haley praises him very well for good plays. I think this side of Haley’s coaching is overlooked in the media.

Todd Haley does not sugarcoat anything.

If the players are doing their job; Haley praises the players, and moves on to kick the next lazy fat@$$ into gear. However, the very second that player screws up for anything, Haley is back. The guy does not mess around. It’s Haley’s way, or else you can join DJ on the bench. Am not sure why LJ has not join DJ yet. 2.7YPC is not cutting it.

D-Bowe is out of the doghouse for now.

As long as he keeps on progressing. He may not have the breakout year by statstatics I was hoping for, but he looks like a better player than last year. Still a lot of room for improvement, but way more improved.

Not poking fun, I swear...

I love the typo “statstatics.”

Forgive me if these have been asked, but....

1. Is Derrick Johnson seriously not starting?

2. Mike Brown is somebody that I wanted the Chargers to sign in the worst way. How has he been for the Chiefs?

3. Do you think Ikechuku Ndukwe and Ogemdi Nwagbuo could be friends?

here ya go...

yes DJ really isnt starting and hes starting to not be happy about it. He has made some big plays when he has played this year so I dont get it…
Mike Brown….You want him? You can have him he takes bad angles and whifs on too many tackles. He is a hard hitter but he goes for the knockout hit every play. He did however save a touchdown last week while chasing down Old man Clinton Portis.
And yes the could be the best of friends :)

Haley alienates a lot of players. I don’t know if that’s a good thing (McDaniels) or a bad thing (Mangini).

He hasn’t “alienated” anyone yet. And DJ hasn’t said anything about not being happy. There have been some pretty big assumptions about the way the players feel about Haley.

Guess I missed that one yesterday. Sounds to me like he’s bitching. I think Babb’s Tweet yesterday is about right:

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about Derrick Johnson. He’s talented, but his laid-back attitude has cost him some good years.

Ikechuku Ndukwe and Ogemdi Nwagbuo friends???

They’ve actually been long time friends from a very young age through a unique bond…both of their parents decided their first and last names from letters they received in a game of Scrabble…it was destiny.

He’s not starting because he is wildly inconsistent. Stats don’t show it, but if you watch his first few seasons you will see that he’ll make some incredibly good plays then take some plays off. Demorrio Williams is starting instead and has proven to be a consistently solid starter. It’s DJ’s contract year so if this isn’t his breakout year (as we’ve been predicting for the last three seasons) he may never live up to the expectations he had coming out of college.

Haley’s doing what he can to motivate Johnson to get his shit together as nothing else has worked, and many Chiefs fans are pissed. My personal opinion is that as long as Williams isn’t hurting us Haley can do what it takes to get DJ to live up to his potential.

So how much do you KC fans miss Jared Allen?

Because I gotta tell you I am very glad he hasn’t been wearing Red for awhile. It seems like you guys were doing alright when that guy was doing his thing, and as soon as he is gone things were not so good.

Now you’ve cut over from the 4-3. What do you think? Was Allen really that important?

Personally I think guys like that don’t come along very often. I thought he could have been a larger-than-life Team Leader. I always thought about Derrik Thomas in that way (I hope you guys are wearing your set belts). Sorry for your loss.

At the rate Allen was going

he was probably going to get suspended for a full season. Apparently in Minnesota he’s either changed his ways or they don’t enforce drunk driving laws very well up there.

I mentioned that AP

The consensus seemed to be that Allen cleaned up his act a full season before he left town, and the main reason he was traded was a contentious relationship with the GM at the time.

he brought tons of energy and never gave up on plays if we still had him and Gonzalez we would be a lot better team
