BFTB Fantasy Smack Talk

Bolts From the Blue has 2 Fantasy Leagues.  Thats 48! teams, and endless chances to talk smack.

Week 5 is close to over.  Bye week for the Chargers means we can focus on our Fantasy teams.

Star-divide

My team in BFTB2 actually had a chance in Week 5.  I Drink Your Milkshake lost by an almost inconceivable 1/100 of a point.  Serves me right for drafting Tom Brady with my first pick.  His last play was a -2 fantasy point fumble, and he lost in OT for the first time in his career (7 games before today).  I lost 80.66 to 80.65 to someone with a curious take on the English language.

Moral of the story (or at least what I learned), Don't draft players you hate.  Oh, and try not to join any leagues with more than 12 or so teams.

This Post probably has a shelf life of 20 minutes, but if you want to brag on (or lament) your team, do it here!

This FanPost was written by a member of the Bolts From The Blue community and does not necessarily reflect the views of the Bolts From The Blue editors or SB Nation.

Ouch

That’s harsh. Not quite as harsh when I lost a championship game by 0.15points (bigger margin, but consider the importance!), but harsh all the same.

Meanwhile in BFTB1, providing Ronnie Brown doesn’t score 53 points I’ll be moving on to 5-0.

Take that, bitches B-)

Damn

Before this week I was 1-3 in one league and 3-1 in the other. Go figure. With an insane amount of byes for both of my teams this week (I started Bruce Gradkowski and Pat White), I’m now at 1-4 and 3-2.

I forgot to set my lineup this week.

And I think I still won.

Just checked. Yep, still undefeated.

I'd consider feeling sorry for you.

But you’re in my division. ;)

Too bad

I don’t get to play against your one win team this year. :(

Do or do not. There is no try.

Anyone in BFTB2

Just give up. That league is mine.

I am UNDEFEATED

have yet to lose a single game and I plan on keeping it that way.

I started Jamarcus Russell

Yes, my team is that bad.

Good week

I move on to 5-0 and everyone else in my division lost so I hold a 3 game lead at the top :D

by gman87 on Oct 13, 2009 12:05 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Just realized

I’m the highest scoring team in the league. Boo yea!

How did I lose one game? Stupid Eagles defense in week 1. 44 points! I mean, wtf?

by Wonko on Oct 13, 2009 2:35 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

And to make that worse

It was a division lose to the team I’m tied for 1st place with.

I want a rematch! Oh wait, the rematch is week 13, when my QB has a bye and I have no real backup (Kyle Boller doesn’t count).

I wonder if the schedule was out before the draft. Note to self: Don’t draft a QB whose bye week comes during a week you play a division rival.

Can't wait til next year

First time fantasy player, and drafted poorly. I researched, but not for a 24 team league. 2 of my mid round picks were cut before the season started.

Wonko is picking players with bye week and division rivalries among his criteria. I’m picking based on who I’ve seen on Sportscenter.

Thanks to BFTB for my Fantasy initiation. Glad it’s not a keeper League.

I wish I was picking players with bye week and division rivalries among my criteria

All I was saying is that I should have, because it may matter.

Actually, I did take into consideration bye weeks, just not how they corresponded to my schedule. Bye weeks can be a big deal. The cheat sheet I had gave ideas of what potential non-starter fantasy players would be good choices for certain bye weeks. Although, choices are fairly limited in a 24 team league.

week 6, finally a win!

Tom Brady’s big day puts me over the top. One step closer to mediocrity.

John, did you forget you were in a league this week? Wish you’d have done that the week I played your team!

I do believe I’m the only undefeated team remaining in my league.

BFTB2 has no undefeated teams

So I’m sitting pretty as one of the three 1 loss teams and fortunately, the other 1 loss team in my division is now a 2 loss team. I’m also the highest scoring of the 1 loss teams so I guess that is why FleaFlicker has me as the #1 team. Take that bitches.

I haven’t exactly been challenged though. My Points Against is the 5th lowest. Must be my awesome defense :P

Whats your PPG Richard?

A thoroughly unimpressive 98. I haven’t remembered to set my lineup once this year including the week I had Rivers and Sproles out for their bye.

Hmm

Quite a difference there. Mine is 101. 88 is around the average PPG in BFTB2.

I have the fourth most points despite my refusal to bother adjusting my lineup for bye weeks, so I guess things could be worse.

wow

low scoring league. Must not be a lot of people optimizing their rosters. So apparently you’re going with the flow.

Have I mentioned I had the 24th pick in the draft. And people complain that their teams are screwed when they get the last pick in a 10 team league.

I like having the last pick in a 10 team league. Having the 22nd pick in a 24 team league was a bit unfortunate, though.

The average ppg is 86.11. No wonder my 98 is good enough for 6-0. Ha.

Brady scored 48 for me by himself.

His two best games, I’ve won. His others, I’ve lost. I rolled the dice picking him late in the first.

#1 v. #2

in this upcoming week. Me v. you.
I was hoping to give you a run for your money, but I think half of my team has a bye week this week. We will see what I can muster up with my scrub backups.

Do or do not. There is no try.

I haven't calculated total points yet, but I know I'm losing this week to fall to 2-5

and I was 5th in total points going into this week. Prior to tonight’s game, I am 2nd in scoring this week (losing to the only other team out of 23 that I could have). Fantasy football is a fickle mistress.

by Lenny Suckerpunch on Oct 26, 2009 8:36 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

My team is about as consistent as the Seahawks

Two huge weeks have buoyed the total points while the team is still pretty bad.

by Lenny Suckerpunch on Oct 26, 2009 8:38 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

So I'm now 2nd in overall scoring and have a 2-5 record

three games back of even making a playoff appearance. Pity me, people.

by Lenny Suckerpunch on Oct 27, 2009 10:44 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I pity you...

If only you were in the division that has a sub 0.500 leader…then all would be good.
I was worried this week about our matchup. You have a decent scoring team. I just happened to have some HUGE games from 4 players.

Do or do not. There is no try.

I thought I was going to beat John this week

but apparently he put in Suisham today at kicker for MNF and all he needs is 2 points to beat me. So he’ll probably win, putting me at 3-4, and despite being among the top scorers the last few weeks I’ll have lost 3 straight.

by JollyWaffle on Oct 26, 2009 9:29 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Had my worst week of the season this week

Barely put together 50 points. All my top guys collaborated to have some of their worst performances (Eli, Ronnie Brown, Pierre Thomas, Kellen Winslow, Chicago Bears D, Hines Ward)

The other team sucked though, so I go to 6-1.

can't keep track BFTB1 and BFTB2

but this week, “I Drink Your Milkshake” lapped the field in BFTB2. Doubled up our opponent,

Chris Cooley with a descent day, would give us bragging rights for the week.

he got hurt (God be with him!) and I still won the week…

wait, let me check…

fuck
