LT Negotiations
AJ Smith says that he had no intention of mocking LT. He admits to choosing his words poorly and ends up calling LT to clear the air. Apparently they didn't discuss LTs contract, which just does seem too big for a running back that is having injury problems and is simply not as productive. Not to mention he has been out with injuries in the playoffs the last two seasons. LT had an interview with Jim Rome in which he states that he is open to negotiating his contract with San Diego. AJs apology and LTs willingness to negotiate are both good signs that they are moving closer to a deal. Hopefully they will keep the negotiations out of the media until a deal is done.

This is very good news to hear.
Maybe the Padres could learn a thing or two from this…

That was also my first thought
When I heard about AJ calling LT.
It must be harder in baseball for some reason :-P

It's easier to make the call
when the player will do anything to stay, including take a pay cut.
More kudos to LT. Boy scouts ain’t got sh*t on him.
Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? ◔ヮ◔

It's now been almost two weeks...
since we’ve heard anything publicly. Personally, I think that’s fantastic; a sign of things actually working. Hopefully, we’ll continue to hear nothing until around draft time, when it’ll be disclosed that LT’s taken a restructuring to remain in San Diego for 2-3 more years. To be followed by drafting, somewhere in the later rounds, the biggest damn lead-blocking FB to be found. And Turner/Chudz finding a place in their hearts for a dose of power running mixed in here and there.
