Chargers have a way with helping the NFL refine its Rules
See: Sept 10, 1978, “holy roller” game.
People the world over have always been more impressed by the power of our example than by the example of our power.

i feel like an "excuse me" rule change
is like a massive national kick to the nuts.
like "oops were are retarded and royally farked your team on several levels. to show our level of regret, we will make it so no one else will ever have to feel the pain that you feel right now. but there isn’t a damn thing we can do to fix your crappy situation. congratulations for being the sorry sad sacks of sh_t that this happened to. wish there was something we could do.
go fornicate yourselves.
kisses,
roger goodell"

I'd put the odds of a rule change at less than 50%.
"I’m sure we will revisit it at the end of the season,‘’ Jeff Fisher, co-chair of the Competition Committee, told me Sunday night. "But I do not see us changing the rule.’’
I bet things similar to this were scenarios that were discussed when they first looked at the rules, and they probably couldn’t think of a solution that didn’t encourage players to keep playing after a whistle.
