Around SBN: The Infuriating Jose Molina

By making the Pro Bowl, Haynesworth can't be franchised due to a clause in his contract. That would sure go a long way to solving the Bolts troubles bringing pressure; but I'm not holding my breath. Big FA splashes aren't the way AJ rolls.

I saw this and thought the same thing...

At first I thought what a huge difference this would make to our defense next year. We could replace Igor with Haynesworth and have our D-line be him, Jamal and Castillo. Then we could go 2-4-5 for nickel packages instead of the 3-3-5 we play now, using Haynesworth and Wiliams as our 2 d-lineman.

If Haynesworth and Jamal are each getting doubled, that leaves Merriman, Philips and Castillo all getting blocked by one guy. Sack party!

It would also be an easier shift once Jamal hangs them up (his knees can’t last forever), but you’re right. Not only is it now how AJ rolls, it would make resigning Merriman much more difficult.

So much for dreaming.

Yeah

If they could find a hidden Haynesworth in the draft somehow…
