JustDave's post-game thoughts.
Now I don't remember much of this game. Partially due to to binge drinking Saturday night, and partially due to the mimosas I threw back this morning, the game is kind of a blur. There are a few things, however, that I recall from the monstrosity called Chargers-Dolphins. They are as follows:
- we were completely outcoached by the 'phins. I'm ok with poor play causing us to lose a game. But to look so atrociously unprepared for that college offense is indefensible. EVERYONE ON THE PLANET knew they were going to run that play ad nauseum. And yet, it still worked like a charm. Awful. Completely inexcusable.
- continuing the trend of poor coaching, their defense looked like they knew what plays we were going to run each and every time. Each play made it look like there were 17 swarming Dolphins surrounding the ball carrier or receiver. They, as opposed to us, look like they watched some game film. To quote Vonnie Holliday: "They lined up as we expected, and they ran where we expected."
- Chad Pennington is the perfect QB for this Dolphins team. Yeah, I said it. Perfect QB for this Dolphins team. They need a short throw possession QB. That's him, to a T. A superbly accurate QB who can give them about 20 throws a game in between wildcat-ness.
- Ronnie Brown doing LT's "I'm a little teapot" dance after getting the clinching first down late in the game was Bush league. I almost threw my drink at the TV at that point.
I don't even know what to think about this team. We go from looking great against the Jets to looking like we have serious issues against the Raiders and the Dolphins. They irritate me.

Yep, Sparano made Norv look mentally handicapped.
Agreed, the coaching is what lost this game. I had the same feeling as everyone else on this planet on that 1 yd TD attempt. LT right up the middle. Sure enough…
I agree that we were dominated at the line of scrimmage
but there has to be a creative way to get around the wall, instead of just bashing yourself against it 80 times. Maybe we should’ve used the Wildcat on ’em…. or something. I have a hard time believing that both their offensive and defensive lines are that much better than ours.
AND, like everyone and their aunt saw yesterday. Zero heart on the field yesterday.
