Most Memorable Chargers Games Ever??

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the site but love what I see so far and can't wait to get more involved.

A question for you though- If you were to think back over the past 30 years or so of Charger football, which individual games stick out most in your minds?  Things like huge comebacks, miraculous wins, crazy things that happened in the stands, SuperBowls, conference championships,  blunder type games (Leon Lett type things)?

Thanks guys!!  Just trying to get some insight into what makes the Chargers so special to so many of us!!

Most memorable...

2 Games stick out…the playoff game last year at Indy. Great game. Back and forth action. And the D coming up HUGE!
The other would be the monstrous comeback at Cincy in 2006. Scoring points at will after gifting Cincy the huge lead.
I would also mentionthe playoff game against Miami that they won in OT in 1981, too, but I was too young to remember that one anyway.

I have 4 answers

Most memorable ever, regardless of me being alive: 1982 (81 season) Playoffs, the Epic in Miami

Most memorable I’ve seen in person: 1995 (94 season) Divisional Playoff win, also against Miami. The stadium has only been louder during the ’84 NLCS.

Most memorable seen on TV: last year’s Divisional Playoff in Indy. It was thrilling, sad, miraculous, and most of all, FUN! I still watch the highlight video on NFL.com whenever I need to feel awesome.

Forgot

about that win against Miami. Great game as well….
And now that I think about it some more, I probably should have included the win in Pitt in 95 to get to the Super Bowl…duh!

Chargers vs Steelers 94 AFCCG

Sticks in my mind. I just remember how we were such HUGE underdogs. Miami game was pretty sweet too.

We're gonna dazzle you with our super play.

it was a thing of beauty

with hacksaw calling the play by play. They have an audio clip of that goal-line stand over at Charger Tom’s website. Still get shivers thinking about it. I stuck my head out of my window in SD and heard some kid, about 8 or 9, yelling “oh my God, the chargers are going to the superbowl!”

Bring back Balboa Stadium.

Miami Game

I remember that as the most incredible game. Four quarters of spectacular play, then in the OT it turned into a defensive struggle. The players just left it all out there on the field, best game ever in my opinion.

Very cool

I found some clips of the 1981 playoff game here and here.

I've got to say it was that Miami game.

It was one of the best in NFL history.

If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!

Well since everyone has good memories here

A bad memory comes from one of my favorite players getting injured: 2005 against the Broncos when Brees dislocated his shoulder on fumble.

Another is the opening game against the Patriots in 1997 where Humphries took a hit that started the concussion problems. What a crappy way to start a season.

I also wanted to say the game where Jamal Williams was blindsided and lost for the season, but I can’t figure out when that game was, so maybe is wasn’t so memorable.

Blessing in disguise

95’ broncos where brees got hurt. Brees is the man, he really is. But we got rivers out of it and I couldn’t be happier.

One of the worst days of my sports loving life

There’s really no good reason why the Chargers have Rivers instead of Brees. We got nothing in return for Brees and wasted a draft pick on Rivers. That’s a talent gap that they can never replace no matter how good Rivers is. As a franchise you can not spend 3 high draft picks (I’m defining high as 1st or 2nd round) on QBs in the span of 8 years. It’s inexcusable, almost as bad as the Lions and their WRs. Of course the Chargers also spent 3 straight years using high draft picks on WRs too. Sigh. At least they sort of make up for it elsewhere.

We also

picked up a third rounder for Brees; that turned into Anthony Waters.

You could make the Eli trade

without getting Rivers in return. And the organization would have been better for it.
