Jay Cutler
Cutler is getting to be a bit of a tool. When asked if there was a team in the AFC with a better chance to make the Super Bowl he said “I don’t think so.” He went on to say he would be “Very surprised, actually” if Denver doesn’t win the AFC West. Then he claims to have a stronger arm than John Elway. After all that he goes on TV and bloviates about how he doesn’t like how Rivers carries himself.
Yeah, that Rivers is just so full of himself...

Its hillarious
that a guy can talk so much shit when he has done NOTHING in the NFL. Get your team to the playoffs before you bash a legend like Elway.
My favorite part is how all bronco fans will assure that he was either joking, or that his comment was taken out of context.
How the shit can “I have a stronger arm than John [Elway] hands down. I’ll bet on it…” be taken ANY OTHER WAY?

Didn't he say he had a stronger arm than Brett Favre in that same interview too?
For the record, this is not my attempt to imply subtly that Belichick is nothing without cheating and Tom Brady. Seriously. I am straight-out saying: Belichick is nothing without cheating and Tom Brady ~ DJ Gallo

Wait
Maybe he doesn’t like Rivers because Phil leads the NFL in Passer Rating, YPA, and tied for the lead in TD passes?

Or Maybe
Because Phil has kicked his team ass everytime they’ve played except last time when they got one of the biggest breaks in NFL history? Two actually, as I’ve never heard of a replay malfunction.

Wait Wait Wait
Maybe its because Jay flipped Rivers off and then the camera caught Rivers jawing back at him. Wait that doesn’t make sense…..why would Rivers be the bad guy there? huh.

Attention Jay Cutler
You have done nothing to back up any of your talk. You have barely won over 10 games as starter in almost 3 years, have never been to the Pro Bowl or the playoffs, plus according to a major sports journalist you have been labeled as a prick.
Knock it off, you bitch.

pot meet kettle
Cracks me up how each set of fans hates the other’s QB because he’s cocky and has too much to say.
Up until the playoffs last year, I thought Rivers was a mouthy prick. After those three games, and after hearing his team back him up, he’s earned his swagger. My opinion of him has skyrocketed this year, since a bit of success hasn’t gone to his head and he hasn’t gone over the top with his mouth, although he remains a vocal team leader.
I jumped on Jay when I first heard about his Elway comments. After finding out the the interviewer said the context was jest rather than disrespect, I felt bad for overreacting (similar to my behavior regarding a Clinton Hart sound byte on these BFTB boards). Even so, Jay’s .500 NFL record does not a legend make, and I agree that he needs to win a few playoff games to earn his conceit… and I think he will.
Bottom line, I couldn’t be happier with BOTH of these guys in the attitude department. I LIKE a QB with confidence, but that’s par for the NFL course.
What I REALLY like is a QB who badly wants to beat (or wants to beat badly) the his most competitive counterpart in the conference. These two did a great job of keeping it under wraps in the last game, but I expect these games to be that much more fun to watch, knowing that each QB has a barely hidden burning desire to show who is better on the field. And we’re lucky enough to get two of them, and possibly, every year.

Cutler on Elway
He said he had a better ARM than the Duke, not that he was better overall. Plus, he was just having fun. If you watched the video of it, you would notice that he was smiling and laughing, and not being serious. If you spent your whole life being compared to someone who did your job before you, and then had a question posed to you about whether you were better than him, you might react with a little humor as well.
Like CoastalBronco, I wasn’t really a fan of Phil Rivers at all until last year. You may forget that he mouthed off to Jay (I don’t care who started it; walking onto the field to trash talk a guy when you’re winning is unacceptable) AND got into it with the Colts fans when his team was winning and he had been taken out of the game in the third quarter due to injury. What had he done before all this? Let’s see… NOTHING. Zero playoff wins up until that point. So if you’re going to bash Cutler for that, take a look at what your own guy has done first.
Now, Rivers has earned my respect after what he did in the playoffs last year, and how he continues to fight this year. I just wish he was a little less of a prick on the field. Like the relationship between Wes Mantooth and Ron Burgundy, I don’t like the guy, but I do respect him.
4-2.

Sorry Big Daddy
But Cutler hasn’t earned our respect at all. And we don’t like him.

It's not necessary that a Chargers fan like or respect Cutler.
I understand your dislike of a rivals’ QB. However, it is necessary to accept that Cutler has the potential to lead his team past yours in the hunt for the playoffs.

I can't even work up
a healthy dislike, he’s more of an irritant. He’s like somebody that won’t stop drumming on his desk or kicks the back of your chair at the movies; and right now Elmer Fudd could lead a team past the Bolts in the hunt for the playoffs.

The Chargers would be half a game up on the Broncos right now were it not for Hochuli thanks to Cutler.

From Mile High Report
Cutler’s honest
He says it best when he says he doesn’t like the way he carrries himself. Me neither. That is one of the reasons why I don’t like him and after that Christmas Eve game I really don’t like him.

sounds like the post is talking about Rivers?
by CoastalBronco on Oct 19, 2008 7:29 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
In fairness, it could be Cutler since he’s the one who actually acted like a prick in that game.

debatable at best
I’ve read stories slanting both ways. The orange and blue slant has the Chargers instigating with AFC West Champion gear in the Broncos faces, the blue and yellow slant has Cutler flying a bird at Rivers. The details don’t concern me. Like I said before, it’s the rivalry that I’m loving, and they more they dislike each other, the better it is.
And don’t let them lie to you, sometimes size does matter. It’s often the biggest prick that scores the most.

He should stop talking so much.
Until he wins more games against top teams (bad ones too)… he should keep the comments mild. I am Mile High City, Denver Broncos, Orange Crush to the core but I want to see more results. Rivers is an excellent QB. He just looks and sounds… funny. In crisis he seems unfazed. Just what I want Jay-C to become.

Nice
I could have written that. Apart from the whole Crush to the Core part…
